What to take with cat to the cattery

Am feeling major guilt about the cat going to the cattery. She didn't seem to enjoy it last time and who can blame her as it's a little prison really isn't it?

What could I take to make her happy, keep her occupie? Her pen was quite Spartan. It is the best cattery in the area apparently. She didn't have a big scratch post like she has at home (just a scratch board) so we're taking her old wonky one with us.

Any other ideas?

When we take ours we take his favourite catnip mousey toy, some catnip spray for them to play with him (he adores catnip!) our cattery have large climbing things in the enclosures so we don't need to worry about that, they also have feliway plugins at ours, if they didn't I'd ask if there was a plug to take your own :)

Despite all of this our boy is still horribly offended at being left there and doesn't talk to us for a while afterwards but the cattery take pictures and videos and put them on their fb page for us to see while away and he's absolutely fine and happy while he's there!

Don't feel guilty, if it's a good cattery they'll look after her and make sure she's not unhappy :)

I used to work in a Cattery, toys were always good, we used to provide basic jingly balls and stuff as they were easily disinfected between guests. Try to provide wipe clean toys though just in case they end up in the litter tray. It was amazing how many toys ended up in litter trays!

If you bring bedding make sure it is something you don't mind getting ruined. A cat away from home will often mess in their beds and where I worked anyway we couldn't wash the bedding, a pen full of posh beds and plush toys used to be a pain to clean and would always seem to end up being covered in poo meaning that their from home stuff had to be removed as it wasn't cleanable. A blanket that smells of home being popped into the heated beds we provided was always popular with the cats, probably more so than pens full of stuff!

We take a blanket from home and some of their favourite food.

We're taking ours today with a blanket from home, her hypoallergenic food, insulin and syringes. High maintenance?
Luckily ours tolerates it quite well. I would rather she stayed at home but being on medication and with her health problems I feel better knowing she's there as the cattery is part of our vets.

An old jumper for the cat to sleep on that you have been wearing so that it smells of you (or the cat's favourite human).
