Kitten socialising - risk to Olicat?

Our local cat rescue centre needs volunteers for kitten socialising, and I'd love to help. My concern is that I have an elderly cat who doesn't go out much, and I wondered if it's possible I could bring home any cat ailments she could catch. (Her jabs are kept up to date). Does any one know if this is this a risk?

If the kittens' jabs are all done, my primary concerns would be things like panleuc/giardia/other bacterial problems that can cause diarrhea and colitis, in addition to the stress a kitten could place on an elderly cat in his own territory. To be honest, if I was you, I'd give it a miss - very tempting, I know, but your elderly cat has to come first, and there are always people wanting to play with kittens.

Good hand washing should make the risk negligible. The shelter should be able to advise.

Just to be clear, the kitten socialising takes place at the rescue centre. There's no way my cat would tolerate the presence of another feline in the house! Thank you both for your thoughts - being pretty risk averse I'll probably give it a miss for now.
