Long haired cats that like to wear the garden ...

BogBastard is having a wonderful summer out in the garden - being a long haired fluffy breed he then comes in wearing half of it - Exactly like What a Mess if anyone else had those books as a kid

Any tips for either preventing or getting the garden out afterwards? Would a trim of his extreme fluffiness help?

No tips I'm afraid but mine are exactly the same. I have two very fluffy ginger cats and we have lots of fields around us. One of them (the other has been a bit poorly recently so is staying closer to home) is coming home covered in those little sticky balls - literally 100's of them. He starts grooming himself and you see him start to shake his head when he gets one in his mouth and then he literally spits them out all over the house.

I usually get his brush and try to brush most of them out but he prefers to just lie next to me on the the sofa whilst I pick them out one by one. He thinks that's heaven.

A brush or flick down seems to be the only way we've found.
Ours likes to wait until we've changed the rabbit's sawdust then roll around in all the bits that fell on the floor - takes ages to get it out!

The rest of the time she just comes in looking like she's been dragged through a hedge backwards - which knowing her she probably has!

Try to be positive & view it as a prompt to give them a good physical check over when you're degardening the cat.

Mine accumulates slugs in his fur, sigh.

Oh yes, slug and even worm removal seems to be a popular sport at present.

I never knew 'de gardening' was a verb but it's a very apt one!

Never had this on either of my Persians.... Until yesterday when one of them came in covered in cobwebs. No way was she having them removed!!

Long handled bristle brush for cobwebs, left on the side for DP to clean off when he gets home.

One of them just came in with a huge lump stuck in their fur. Pulled it out thinking it was a weed or something. It was poo. Eugh, how it got there I have no idea!

Ernie is short haired but still comes in with half the garden on him.

He likes to roll around in one corner under a silver birch which has tiny little disc like seeds (they get everywhere in the house)..he is covered

I was going to start a new thread, Bog, then remembered your's.

Little M came in just 15 minutes ago, wearing garden stuff, which I groomed out of him. Came back in just now, wearing the same attire. It's not even like he's long haired, just curly and slightly greasy - not his fault, it's his breed.

Now his tail's another matter, I think he nicked it off a persian, it's huge and floofy. Sometimes I find small slugs in it - he likes to chill under the rosemary bush, then have a roll around in the dirt.

Poor little thing's hot, and doesn't know what to do with himself.

Bogbastard has just had a week in the cattery. He came back sleek, smooth and beautiful. He has just come in with seed pods everywhere, a dried leaf stuck to his back legs, spiked up fur from getting wet chasing the kids water pistols (he stalks them and then chases the jets of water), and multicoloured paws from walking over their chalk pictures on the patio.

He's a disgrace ... but a very happy one. Hope LittleM is the same

I bet they'd get on great.

My little disgrace drinks from the toilet, and rummages through people's handbags, depositing soil and garden bits wherever he goes.

Now he's a grown up, he has a little pink swingy belly, and when he sits down, it resembles a Penguin's apron, you know, the ones they use to keep their egg warm, while resting it on their feet.

He's been a bit flopped out with the heat though
