Just that really, It sounds like there is another person walking around upstairs, not two cats and thump, thump, thump, down the stairs. Anyone else's like this or have mine got concrete paws?!! 😻😻🐾

Yes, thumps down the stairs. You'd think he was 16 stone. He is a big cat, but not that big. Those pretty birds must know when he's on the prowl.

YouMakeMyDreams · 27/05/2016 23:48

I used to have a cat that sounded like an adult coming down the stairs in work boots. He was loud. My friend thought someone was in the house first time she heard it.

ComeOnKenneth · 27/05/2016 23:48

I think mine is part badger, part rhino. I can always tell if he's upstairs - the light fittings rattle in the kitchen. Graceful he ain't!

stealthsquiggle · 27/05/2016 23:50

We have 4 flights of uncarpeted wooden stairs and two cats who like to play chase up and down them at 3am.

Emochild · 27/05/2016 23:52

Sometimes mine sound like elephants

Other times they are like ninjas and will appear -sitting directly behind you usually when you are cooking

Depends what mood they are in

exWifebeginsat40 · 27/05/2016 23:56

we call it the Grand National here. 2 small cats can make a LOT of noise.

HarrietSchulenberg · 27/05/2016 23:57

Oh god yes! We used to laugh about his "cat-like stealth" as he banged his way round the house.
ExH used to sing "The garden fence will bend and bow, bend and bow, bend and bow" to the tune of London Bridge is Falling Down whenever we heard Cat clang his way home in the dark.
26kg lurcher dog is actually much quieter than poor old cat ever used to be.

cozietoesie · 27/05/2016 23:58

Seniorboy I can hear a mile off. The Lodger I can't.

Guess which one is the accomplished hunter. Grin

cozietoesie · 28/05/2016 00:00

CLUE: it isn't Seniorboy. Wink

Oldraver · 28/05/2016 00:21

Yea Ernie jumps off the bed and it sounds like a lorry coming through.

He runs down to greet OH when he comes home and he can always here him clopping down the stairs outside

HemanOrSheRa · 28/05/2016 00:33

My little goof boycat and my JRT love to thunder up and down the hallway at night. The cat teases the dog and goads her by sitting right by her food bowl. If she ignores him he bats her metal water bowl to get her attention.

He also sits on the bedroom windowsill in the early hours, spying the birds, then launches himself off onto the bed. Right on top of my chest when he decides it's breakfast time. It scares the bejeezuz out of me every single time.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 28/05/2016 09:15

We are just discovering this since Big and Little Ginge moved in. They had mad chasing sessions which seem to involve another 30 or so invisible cats, judging by the fucking noise they make.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/05/2016 10:06

Mine is noisy but if he wants to go stealth he can. He chooses not to though.

PickledLilly · 28/05/2016 10:10

We've got a at who is regularly called 'ten tonne Tess', when she jumps off a bed upstairs, the ceiling shakes. Little cat can be a stealth ninja, we know this because of all the murdered bits of wildlife she deposits on the doorstep.

JapanNextYear · 28/05/2016 10:11

If ours wants fed he stomps down the wood floored hallway like he's wearing hob nailed boots. So heavy pawed.

When he wants to sneak past he's light as a father.

PickledLilly · 28/05/2016 10:12

I don't think ten tonne tessie has ever caught anything though, no wonder on those thumping paws. The other neighbourhood cats scatter when they see her coming too. She's a big, fat belligerent cat!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 28/05/2016 10:16

My late pusskie was a tiny beautiful boy, and very light on his little fluffy feet.

The lampshade in the lounge always swung when he jumped off the bed and the horrendous racket when he came downstairs would give anyone a headache.

How?

DigestiveBiscuit · 28/05/2016 10:17

We call it The Charge of The Light Brigade, as they gallop downstairs for their breakfast, as soon as we get out of bed, or get a plate out in the kitchen!

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 28/05/2016 10:24

reuben is just an oaf...not a dainty bone in his body, you always always hear him, and if by some chance you miss the stamping and running then he will always vocally announce his presence!

His sister is also very chatty, but she does the stamping, dd's room is her favourite hidey hole and that's above the sitting room and you can hear her prowling about....to put it into context, we rarely hear dd if she is up there!

gunsandbanjos · 28/05/2016 16:04

Big fat cat is actually quite light on his feet. Little tiny scrap of a cat sounds like she's wearing boots😂

My parents can hear their cat walking about upstairs!

PestilentialCat · 28/05/2016 21:36

Mine are silently-moving at all times, apart from when they jump down from their beds in the utility room - they land like a ton of bricks Hmm

kernowgal · 28/05/2016 21:49

Mine is small but thunders down the stairs - half the time I don't know if it's him or the boy next door.

Other times they are like ninjas and will appear -sitting directly behind you usually when you are cooking

This too. I will be washing up and suddenly feel like I'm being watched. Turn round and he's sat there, staring at me.

StillMedusa · 29/05/2016 15:50

Portia is stealth cat.
Ophie tip toes daintily.
Obie... more of a 'Jesus is he TRYING to come through the floorboards?!' kind of cat Grin
