my darling cat is dead upstairs

It's just such a shock - my parter just went up to bed and came down to say I don't think Ozzie looks too good. I went upstairs and he was just lying there - still warm but lifeless - he must have had a heart attack. I'm shocked and devastated. He's 10 yrs old. My daughter is going to be devastated in the morning. I don't know what to do with myself. My darling boy

Your pictures of Ozzie are gorgeous.

Ozzie was very lucky to have an owner who so obviously loved and adored him Flowers

NapQueen · 19/05/2016 00:25

Awww he looks so much fun.

obsessedlex · 19/05/2016 00:27

He was my first of my own we'd had cats as kids but he was my first pet of my own I suppose. I need to find a box I think he's just in a towel and I'm worried it might be messy in the morning - I don't even know what happens to their bodies after they've gone - physically I mean

So so sorry for your loss, a truly handsome cat. RIP Flowers

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2016 00:28

What a handsome cat he was. I'm so sorry for your loss Flowers

NapQueen · 19/05/2016 00:34

I don't think much will happen to the structure of his body for a little while yet but you may want to pop him comfortably into the box before he stiffens. Could you snuggle him in in a way where his little face is peeking out like he would in the bedclothes?

reader77 · 19/05/2016 00:42

So sorry for your loss Sad

obsessedlex · 19/05/2016 00:47

Thank you - I've found a basket that my hair dryer and hair bits lived in which is cosy for him and he's all wrapped up and we can open the covers up to see him if she wants to.

Thank you all so much. Really thank you xx

Flowers I'm sorry op.

StableButDeluded · 19/05/2016 01:59

I have had pet cats all my life, since I was two years old, I know exactly what you are feeling and I'm so sorry for you and your family. Ozzie looks so handsome in that photo, he looks like a cat who knew he was well-loved. Flowers

RubbishMantra · 19/05/2016 06:26

I don't know what to say, except I'm so sorry for the loss of your little cat.

((( ))) to you and DD.

Rollypoly100 · 19/05/2016 06:47

I'm so sorry. It is such a shock. I lost my old rescue boy a couple of weeks ago from a stroke. I feel for you.

Vinorosso74 · 19/05/2016 08:14

So sorry for your loss and such a shock. Our neighbour found his cat dead in her favourite chair and said she looked so peaceful. If he looks peaceful, I would let your DD see him if she wants to.
RIP Ozzie Flowers

ArfurFacksake · 19/05/2016 08:16

I hope you and your DD are ok today X

Gatekeeper · 19/05/2016 08:19

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 19/05/2016 08:19

Bless you, it is such a hard thing to deal with and such awful news to have to break Flowers. RIP Ozzie.

MakingJudySmile · 19/05/2016 08:19

So sorry to read this. He was quite obviously loved.

Hope your dd is ok as she can be - do let her see him; it'll allow her to understand he's died and stop her expecting him back xxx

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 19/05/2016 08:20

Aww beautiful cat. Rip ozzie

Brenna24 · 19/05/2016 08:23

I am so sorry. I had this happen with one of my horses. I was devastated at the time but consoled myself with the fact that she went quickly and relatively pain free (no sign of her thrashing around in pain, she just went in her sleep). In her case she was 30 and just about to start a long, slow, painful decline with arthritis followed by a horrible decision for me at the end of it so I just had to be thankful she had the best of life and went peacefully.

Brenna24 · 19/05/2016 08:24

Oh and Ozzy is a very handsome chap. I hope your daughter is ok. I saw our first cat dead at 4 years old and I took it ok.

puddingisgood · 19/05/2016 08:31

Another cat lover sending you my sympathy. Ozzie was gorgeous! And 10 yrs old is young, it is such a shock when he seemed so well earlier in the day! I hope it was not too difficult with your DD today. I suspect she will bounce back from it quicker than you will. Flowers
