Croydon cat killer - three more cats killed in London area in the past week.

Unable to link atmk] as on my phone but according to my local cat rescue FB page another cat was killed in Archway last night. One in Forest walk on Tuesday and one in Petts wood (which is only about half a mile from me) last week.

How is it the police have been unable to catch this vile individual? Sad.

How do they catch them though? And I would believe that they're taking this very seriously indeed.

From what I've read the police are taking it very seriously. The problem is the killings cover such a huge area. The closest one to me was in Bedfont and it really shook me up. It's not on the doorstep but it hit close to home.

Harry is allowed out during the day but not at night but sometimes won't come in during the summer. DH has now been tasked with constructing a screen of some sort so we can have the patio doors open in the evenings without worrying about Harry.

Oh that Archway one is a bit too close for comfort for me. Our old girl stays close to home and out the back and she's in from early evening but still that worries me.
I wonder is it one person or a few people. But why? How sick for you have to be to do something like that? The sooner they are caught the better.

DS was reading about this somewhere and said that he'd read the fear is that he will move from cats to people, as some of the most notorious serial (sp?) killers started out killing animals.

Apparently he leaves no DNA at all behind.

Cozie is right, apparently there is evidence that it's just the one person.

It's not just cats Roseberry, s/he's also killed rabbits and foxes, although it is predominantly cats.

Sick bastard.

I would imagine that the police would be wanting to apprehend him before he 'graduates his targets' as well.

There's not much difference in killing an animal to killing a person imo so that wouldn't surprise me.

God knows how they'll catch him though Sad

Horrific! My sympathies to any cat owners in the area, it must be so worrying. If they do catch the perpetrator, I wonder what justice will be meted out, since most animal abusers seem to escape jail.

I hope that whoever this is has no kids or other dependents. If he/she does then believe me they will also be suffering.

And I would bet anything that the perpetrator is a man.

Yes there is evidence these killers move on to other species. I really hope they catch him/her. Has there been any CCTV footage of a possible suspect at all?

God yes. I've only just taken on a cat so she's not allowed out yet. but when she is she certainly will be kept in at night.

Oh, for FFS can we get away from from the him/her stuff?

To the cat owners, do you know when this takes place, is it always at night? I've grown up with cats, always had them from a rural background where they were practically feral to college times and the past 30 years in London. Would always let them out at night when I could as it seems that is the time when they do their stuff (cats were nurtured!).
I fear you are going to have to lure them in until this maniac is caught, at least when they do their nasty stuff, but in the meantime let them out if they are 'outdoor' cats as it would be a shame to keep them locked up?

I live in the area and our chipped cat disappeared 18m ago never to be seen or heard from again and i always wonder. I hope they catch this sad inadequate soon.
