How to stop my cat shitting in my garden?

Well as the title says, how do I stop my cat shitting in my garden?? I've got two cats, one won't poo anywhere but the litter tray. The other does it in our garden!! It's really starting to become a problem because I've got a 5yr old daughter and 8yr old son and I don't like them going out in the garden now incase they stand in it! Please help?!!

Really either you have to accept it in a litter tray ( try with compost) or in your garden if you own a cat. Like owning a dog you can go out and regularly poop scoop your garden.

I'm fine with the litter trays I just get sick of having to check the garden everytime the kids want to play out.

Where do you want it to poo? If it prefers outside, provide it with a freshly dug area or a sand box.

Train it to shit in next door's garden of course

I have to check my garden for cat shit every time I let my kids out & I don't own a cat. I also have to clear my front garden every few days.
Would you be bothered if it was going in someone else's garden?

just give your cat a patch and clean it regularly i used to do this with little girl she had a favorite spot

5 and 8 year olds should be old enough to spot poo in the garden and tell you. So either you train the children to poo spot or check the garden each day. But really this is part of cat ownership.

Put some dirty litter in a part of the garden you don't mind the cat using.

And if you have cats you need more than one tray. A different litter may tempt your reluctant cat to use a tray.

That might be an idea wolfie thank you. I'll try getting two litter trays and see how that goes.
For everyone else saying would I rather they shit in other people's gardens, erm no! Why do people assume because a cat owner doesn't want shit in their garden they'd be happy with it anywhere else!? Jesus. Anyway they've always used the litter tray and now they seem to have started using the garden. I just don't understand the change.

I've never had a cat that uses a litter tray. Mine have always gone outside. I have a patch at the end of the garden which I clear weekly. I've no doubt neighbourhood cats use it too, but it's really no worse than emptying a litter tray.

Typical. Expect me to clear up YOUR cats shit. Don't be so bloody rude. It's your cat so you should act responsibly as to where it craps!
