Does anyone bother with a weight management food for spayed/neutered cats?

Both my cats are now done, 2yo girl and a 7mo boy.

The vet recommended we switch them off the whiskers dry food onto a food for spayed/neutered cats or a weight management one.

i tried the royal canin WM one today, and my boy just basically vommed the lot back up.

Is it worth bothering or should i just stick with what they're happy eating?

If you stick with their regular food decrease the amount by 10% that they have each day.

My two are 7 and 4, both were neutered as kittens.

I've tried every food on sale and they finally deigned to accept an Aldi dry food and Asda tinned food combo.

I really don't think you should be worrying about them being on a weight management food.

Sounds utterly bonkers to me.

Meant to add that they are both spot on for their weight.

I think it depends on the cat. Our lovely sisters didn't have a weight problem, but current cat does and tends to beg for food (Rescue cat, food issues!). She has lost weight on diet dry food and is now on Royal Canin satiety dry food and it does seem to help.

I would only do it if there was a weight problem.

FatCatSlim was on the Royal Canin satiety diet and lost 1kg. He's now at his target weight and I've switched to an ordinary non diet food. What I am being careful about is weighing out the right daily amount and only letting him have that.

I think that provided you keep an eye on what they are eating and their weight is good then feed them whatever food they like.
