Why dies he want me to watch him eat?

Hi

My cat has no problems eating when I'm at work or if I'm asleep, but if I'm home and awake and he wants something to eat, he meows and meows and meows until I get up, follow him to the kitchen and stand really close to him whilst he eats.

Does any one else's cat do this and why does he do it?

Thanks

My Mum's cat used to do that. I would go round to feed him when they were away and have to stand there while he ate. We never did know why.

Her new cat doesn't seem to have this problem. Grin

Mine won't eat until he's cuddled Hmm
Miaows like crazy, has a cuddle then hops off my lap happily to eat

My cat used to do that when she strolled home from a long day out.

The rest of the time she would happily tuck in alone.

Perhaps she wanted to talk about her adventures!

Utah: yes, I'm aware of who's in charge Smile

K, glad I'm not the only one tho!

My cat does this too. Very high maintenance. I follow like a fool thinking he has run out of biscuits but there are still loads. Then he sticks his bum in the air and eats, Happy that I have followed him.

Mine only eats if I'm nearby.

He's generally a scaredy cat though so I suspect it's because he wants someone to act as a lookout for him in case a dangerous fly or deadly speck of dust should happen by... Hmm
