Please can someone recommend a cat proof fence/ company?

There are so many out there!

My budget is limited. I was going to do anything, but have started to think it might be a good idea. My garden it pretty big - good for the cat, not so for my pocket!

If anyone has reasons why keeping her in the garden might be a bad idea, please let me know!

I used protectapuss and they're really good. They sent the brackets and netting etc. and dh fixed it up. It was around £400 for a medium sized garden. It works brilliantly and there've been no escapes.

There are other systems, but I don't know how well they work. One which looks cheaper involves round plastic piping along the fence. The cat can't get over it as it's slippery and rolls around.

Thank you , that sounds more reasonably priced than some I've looked at what was fitting like? I've got one tricky area that I don't think we could do ourselves.

How intrusive is it? (Partly thinking of how neighbours will react) I don't want it to look too prison like.

Anyone with reasonable DIY skills can fit it. You have to be imaginative with awkward areas.

The neighbours can't see it as it's within your garden.

I don't know whether the middle one will show up much.

Basically, it is noticeable to the person who's garden it's in, but doesn't impact upon the neighbours at all.

You get used to it and can always train plants along the mesh

I've had two cats gone missing and two knocked down and killed, so it's a far better than those things happening. You get used to it and it's fine.

Wow thank you! We have a lot against the fence (trees), but I've spoken to them and say there's almost always a way round it (although compromise might be necessary).

I need to take some photos to send to them. I'm a bit nervous since seeing two of the big Tom cats squaring up in the middle of our garden. She also seems to be very trusting as well. If the garden was secure, I feel I could have a cat flap and let her come and go in the day when we're out, if not I don't want her out when we're out for a long time in case anything happens.

I'm not due to start letting her out until next week, but it's started to worry me. (I've also look at catios, but that seems to cut up the garden a bit and I don't want to look out the back windows at a mesh).

Yes, it will keep other cats out. Our neighbour's cat can't get in as the mesh confuses him. The brackets also flex a bit, so if a cat stands on the mesh the movement would freak it out.

We did ours ourselves - brackets from screw fix, cable ties and netting from a garden centre - total cost under £100. We do however have a straight fence on all sides - no difficult trees or anything. Pics show partway through installation along one of the fences
