Should I get a cat?

Would I be crazy to get a cat with a 1 year old? I never had big pets when I was growing up, just gerbils and rabbits etc. I'd love a dog or a cat but I'm leaning more towards a cat because they'd presumably be easier to look after?

You shouldn't get a cat, you should get four cats.

That's my littlest, Jemima.
I also have Eponine who only has three legs and fourteen toes, Matilda, who is my prettiest and giant fatboy Zazzles who is a big baby.

Once you get one...you always feel they need a friend. Although my two cannot stand each other. I like to think of it as a love hate relationship.

Be careful! Once you have one...you rapidly end up with five!

cats! i have an 8 year old girl and we are 3 days into New Kitten Madness. it's ace. newbie is a black and orange tortie girl. she likes an evening cuddle during which she pats my nose and STARES into my eyes. older cat remains stoic and we are starting very gradual interaction.

cats are brilliant.

Lol when my troublesome kitty was a kitten he would stare at my eyes and id think "aww hes making an emotional connection" no! He was waiting for the perfect moment to pounce and gauge my eyeballs out! He was seeing the reflection of the tv in my eyes.
