The chances of my kitten being pregnant.

She has not been out but a tom cat managed to get in the house while we was out.

We was out for a good 2 hours and when got back had to pick the cat up and put it back out side.

Far from deep cleaning the house and washing my bedding to hopefully get rid of any fleas that cat may have had, what is the chances of a 3.5 month kitten getting pregnant.

Was your kitten in season? Vocal, over affectionate, etc?

If not she has no chance of being pregnant, she shouldn't be mature enough to be in heat as they become sexually mature at about 5 and a half months, according to my vet.

We were told by the rescue centre we got out kittens from that they can breed from 6 months, so you should be ok. Have you booked an appt to get her neutered?

I would book a vet appt. My mum told me recently the vet said that when he spayed one of our family cats (nearly 40 years ago) she was pg. he spayed anyway.

I'm worrying enough about not letting cats out. Now I have to worry about letting a cat in!

It's unlikely. But she can be neutered in two weeks anyway so I would book her in for then.

Rivertam - that advice is seriously out of date. They can get pregnant easily at around five months and in some case even earlier.

Even if the tomcat did get her pregnant (which I think is unlikely) they can spay in two weeks anyway. At only two weeks I would think of it as more of a morning after pill than an abortion.

Well, it was 10 years ago . They actually told us to keep the kittens indoors until they were neutered at 6 months, which we did.

Some vets (especially for breeders) will spay kittens from 10 weeks (sometimes earlier) so I would go to the vet and spay asap just to be sure. It is possible (even if unlikely) that she is pregnant.

Poor kitten - must have been scary for her. I would take her to the vets asap and see what they say.

Going to ring the vets tomorrow, the vet said it was safer after 6 months. However I think the risks of the op outweighed the pregnancy risk.

The only way I can think of is that I leave a small window open. I know the kitten can't climb out but didn't think a eager Tom cat could climb in. Window has since been shut.
