Why does my kitten want to get in the bath with me?!

I'm smitten with my little girl (5 month tortie). I have three kids and she's so affectionate, sociable and tolerant of the chaos!

She's always around, follows us from room to room. I have a bath most nights before bed. A chance for peace and relaxation after dealing with three young children. But I have company now. As soon as she hears the tap running she's there. She jumps up once I'm in the bath, tries to climb on me, dips her paws in, drinks the water etc.

She will not be persuaded away. I can't shut the door because she cries and scratches up the carpet.

I know cats can be strange but I thought they were supposed to hate water. I love her company I really do, but would like my bath in peace!

My tortie girl used to do that too :( I miss her little face (she got hit by a car last year)
She fell in loads of times though, Twas very funny. She also fell in the hot tub quite a few times....

Don't worry, once she falls in a couple of times (you will get scratched) she'll lose interest.

Shaffron · 19/10/2015 22:07

Sorry Kelper Sad

She doesn't get completely in but near enough! I like to switch off in the bath. Light a candle, snooze, read, think. The boss (sorry cat) is disturbing my me time!

Mine used to do this (for 20 years) she also used to like to sit on my knee when I was on the loo and loved watching it flush. She died two months ago and I miss that old girl, it was nice having someone to chat to when I was on the loo.

Didn't realise cats could be such high maintenance! Great company though.

My Evil Cat can hear a packet of salt and vinegar crisps opening a mile away. I can't have them in the house she gets very territorial if she's allowed one.

My Ginger Boy loves water. He likes to play with dripping taps and sniffs bleach like it's the greatest smell in the world Hmm (obviously I don't allow him to do this)

We have two tortie kittens who are fascinated by water. One jumps on the toilet seat when we flush it. She tries to chew through the toilet seat to get to the running water!
Confused

Wolfiefan · 19/10/2015 22:39

Oh and she likes to dip her paw in my glass of water and play with ice cubes!

Lj8893 · 19/10/2015 22:47

My cat loves a bath! I don't really like him getting in the bath with me (although he tries really hard) as his fur gets everywhere Confused so give him a little bath in the sink before I have mine.

He won't let me dry him though and goes running off to dh downstairs who he will let dry him. Weird cat.

TheTravellingLemon · 19/10/2015 22:50

My kitten used to do that (15 years ago) until she fell in. She never did it again. Boy did I bleed. I looked like Edward Scissor hands after that little misadventure.

Bogburglar99 · 19/10/2015 23:36

BogBastardKitten likes to balance on the tap end of the bath and FISH for my toes.

I'm sorry, we aren't helping much here are we? Grin

Do you have a shower? BBK likes to sit in the shower and play with the running water if it's turned on gently. Might be a distraction!
