Okay to go away and leave a five month old cat for a few nights?

She's getting neutered/chipped this week and we're hoping to go away for a few nights next week.

Is it okay to leave her at home with neighbours/family coming in twice a day?

Not sure whether to leave cat flap open straight away after neutering?

It should be fine but you should not let her outdoors for around five days after neutering really.

I would keep her in with a litter tray provided while you're away tbh.

I would try and find a cattery.

She needs to be kept in, really. But it should be okay to leave her so long as the neighbours check in regularly.

Yes I worry. Haven't booked anything yet! I would worry a cattery would be more disruptive? I've been in touch with a local pet sitter who would come and play with her, feed her and clean litter tray. And I suppose if I told her to keep her in?

We leave our two with a friend. Make sure all windows are shut and that cat won't make a run for it as soon as the door opens...

No she'll be fine at home but just staying in. Far less stressful than cattery but a proper cat sitter would work better as they'll know signs of illness etc. Don't let it stop you going on holiday she'll be fine. Obviously if she seems really off after her op you can reconsider but most cats bounce back from neutering.

I left our cat for a weekend with a sibling calling in both days to deal with food/cat litter. The morning after I got back two of my neighbours were talking VERY LOUDLY outside about how the poor cat was crying all night and wasn't it AWFUL. It eventually turned out that before I adopted the cat, she had got trapped in one of the neighbours' sheds for three days and now had a fear of being left alone. That neighbour could have informed me of that instead of gossiping about me...

Sorry to go off on a ranty tangent! But if you think she has issues with being alone, consider a cattery instead.

She will be absolutely fine at home. I used to leave mine over night with biscuits and water. I couldn't as she got older as she went onto little and often wet food.

Is it within a week of her being spayed? My cat was quite high maintenance for the week after she was spayed plus had to keep her cone on so couldn't have left her too long. Then needed wound checks etc.

If it is more than a week would think it would be fine to leave her but not within a week iyswim?

My gut reaction is no you shouldn't leave her. Won't she still have her stitches in from being spayed and still have her cone on. If that's the case someone needs to be there checking she hasn't pulled at her stitches. Mine had to have a big cone on as she managed to tug her stitches which meant she couldn't eat or drink with it on so needed to be supervised when eating. She may also suffer the effects of the anesthetic for a while. And a young cat will be lonely. Got a friend you trust that you could give a key to?
