Hello,
Me again!
Recap for new followers: I adopted 9yr old Kenzo this week from a shelter. She was very well looked after but the lady had to move abroad so gave her up. I know the lady has been phoning every week to see if she had been rehomed yet.
I have agreed to send some photos of Kenzo settled in her new home together with a letter to the shelter for them to forward to the previous owner. This is their standard practice.
I assume they will keep it anonymous but should I also (out of the goodness of my heart!):
- offer to send a letter once a year (anonymously via the shelter); or
- allow the previous owner to stay in touch with me directly
Or am I being too generous? Would she try and steal her back and/or want to visit and would that confuse the cat?
I'm probably overthinking this but I feel bad for the lady!
Thanks!
