I walked out of the vets this morning.

I took FatCat for her vaccinations and check up. Appointment was for 09:30. I turned up a few minutes early and sat in the cat/small animal area after checking in with the receptionist.

A poor dying dog was brought in as an emergency and needed to be put to sleep. Appointments then began to run late, but I fully understood why.

Anyway, I waited and waited and eventually asked the receptionist where I was in the queue. "You're next after that dog" she said. I sat back down.

Dog came out and then the vet asked another one in Shock

I stood up and said that I was supposed to be next. The vet was just Confused. The receptionist went into the consult room and had a conflab. My back was hurting and anxiety/depression playing up.

I just bloody got up and left. The receptionist came running after me apologising and asking if I wanted to make another appointment. I wasn't horrible, I just couldn't be there any longer.

Poor FatCat stuck in her cat carrier for over an hour Sad

That would be a good day at our clinic. But that's because we're the vet equivalent of the NHS. When you're paying private healthcare fees you expect better.

Poor FatCat. Are you going to look for another vet?

No, I've been with this practice for 15 years. I'll have to make another appointment.

I tend to find they forget about you, when you're sitting in the cat area. Sad

We all have days from hell and sometimes the computer puts clients in the wrong order on the waiting list (only about once a year, but usually when everything else has gone wrong). We are lucky we often have a second vet who can step in and help, but not always.

The second vet was operating. They have a second branch, I'll make an appointment to go there instead.
