My new kitten is on a drip and staying at the vets.

We got our beautiful pedigree kitten less than a week ago. He is 4 months old.
He settled in so fast, eating, drinking and using the litter tray, the most affectionate baby ever.
On Thursday I noticed some puddles of yellow bile, he stopped eating but continued drinking. I think he was bringing up bile 3 or 4 times a day. No bowel movements since Thursday.
We have seen him messing about with a potted fig type plant which according to Dr Google might be somewhat toxic in big quanties.
Went to the vet this morning, he thinks the plant isn't the problem and that it's probably gastroenteritis but in light of it being Sunday tomorrow wanted to keep him in in case he has swallowed something that might cause problems. So he's being kept in on a drip. Apparently he needs mild sedation for this .
We know this vet and we have the upmost respect for him but I'm in tears that our wee baby is in a cage in a strange place with no company.I feel like we have let him down even though I know in my head this is the safest course of action.
Please someone tell me this is going to be okay.

Oh dear, kittens can bounce back really quickly and if he's sedated he wont know too much about it.

Thank you fluffy, yes the vet said he'd ring me tomorrow with an update.
I brought him down in a pet carrier with one thin blanket, if I'd known he was going to keep him would have brought soft bedding and his blanket and teddy from the breeders home. I just feel like I've abandoned him.
He has slept with us every night and I work from home so he has never been alone.
I know this is the safest course of action .............but he is just a baby.
Not many people in RL understand how we feel about our pets.

He's in the best place.

Oh poor baby, I hope he's better soon. Will the vet nurse stay with him?

Poor boy! Hoping he make a fast recovery and is back home soon.

The vet phoned this morning Crazynanna. He had some chicken
The vet thinks it was gastroenteritis. He is off the drip but had diahorrea so wanted to keep him tonight as well.
Waiting on the call to get him tomorrow.
He's a heartbreaker already .
I can't wait to get him home and love love love him.

That's something so fingers crossed for the wee lad.

The vet nurses that will be monitoring him are generally lovely to them by the way - and so caring. (I've heard them behind the scenes at my own practice - I hear like a cat. )

Just be careful certain plants lilies are poisonous to cats - my own cat took a bite of something poisonous (not a lily) and I had to rush him to the vet (he was kitten age about 6 months old).

How is he?

We got him home on Monday morning.
I was worried we' d be strangers to him again ,considering we had him less than a week ,but no, he was delighted to see us and to be home. He had a good nosey around , found his toys and bed (s).
He is eating again and playing and generally in fab form.
It's just wonderful to have him back.

Excellent. He will be immensely relieved to have returned to his home. Sounds as if he's bonded well.
