Trip to the vet or am I being cat PFB?

One of my two cats has been throwing up all morning (five times I think). They have a lot of hair so tend to do this but not usually so much. It was normal cat sick followed by that white foamy stuff they produce when there is nothing left in their tummies.

She seems perfectly OK in herself. As far as I know she hasn't eaten anything weird but that is a big as far as I know as they both have a tendency to chew on weird things.

I am pregnant and not entirely logical at the moment - so vet or no vet?

I would do vet- when my cat was throwing up like that it turned out he had been poisoned .

He was fine in himself then just suddenly went downhill.

It would be v strange if they had been poisoned as they are indoor cats and we live in a small 1 bed flat. What had yours been poisoned with if you don't mind me asking?

She is running round playing with the other one now. I just don't know!

I would not vet since fine in herself, keep her on mostly fluids.
Cats are quite pukey creatures.

I would just offer water until her tummy settles or she asks for food and only give a little bit at a time, if she's still being sick later in the day or becomes obviously poorly I would take her.

I am not a vet just the slave of 3 cats!

OP I would go around and check all plants / dried arrangements to see if any are chewed.

Do you sew? Is it possible she could have swallowed a needle?

If no to both of the above and she seems fine, you may have gotten a bad batch of food! Both of our cats were puking their guts out last year and it was a bad batch of Friskies (pouches).

Keep and eye on her and if she starts again, take her to the vet asap.

The next door neighbours weed killer.

If she is an indoor cat though erm have you changed food recently or anything like that?

We have no plants or anything like that due to the fact they are both chewers...I do sew but my needles are in a cupboard they can't access.

I took one of mine to the vet last week for this reason. It ended up being 3 visits, over 3 days, as she wasn't eating much at all (1-2 teaspoonfuls of plain chicken a day), and could't keep it down. The vet have her an anti-sickness jab on the first 2 visits, and I had to give medicine by syringe into her mouth (which she understandably hated). The vet did an X-ray on the second visit which didn't show anything up, but said she'd prefer not to start doing more invasive tests (blood tests etc.) unless there was a deterioration. The evening of the third day our cat perked up and began eating, and the next day was back to normal.

The cost of the three visits was over £300. Luckily our cats were covered under 4 weeks free insurance that we got via the rescue centre!

No explanation for the sickness, the cats haven't been out since being with us. Th vet said she could have found a bit of old food somewhere (a possibility, with two messy children in the house). For me, it gave me peace of mind going to the vet, especially as I am quite new to being a cat owner.

We changed food about 2 weeks ago do could be that I guess? But they have been fine up to now and the other one isn't affected (yet!)

We had a case of this last week www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=1+2122&aid=306 for which a three hour operation was needed and the only symptoms were loss of appetite and vomiting.

Let's hope it's not that!

I don't think it is that from reading the article - she's not been sick again since this morning, seems to be doing normal poos and is eating again as we speak. So fingers crossed she just had a weird puking session.
