Bloody cheek. This remark was made by the otherwise sane and pleasant boss of the charity I work for.

Mr C made the local rag because he saved 40 people's lives by waking up the humans when the building caught fire.

Not because he is a little rotund. Or is he?

Well to be fair, Corygal, he's definitely full-figured - but then I'm used to Seniorboy who is a thin elegant cat.

What weight is he?

He's just full bodied. What did you say to the boss?.

5.5 kg. But he is a huge cat - over 3ft long inc tail. And has lots of fur.

Fur is very heavy. My mum had a fur .

I maintained a dignified silence. The room dropped in temperature like a stone, however, and our colleagues, who are all aware of Mr C's heroic nature, just ran.

Silence is much scarier than shouting.

Fur is heavy - as in a coat - mainly because it has skin, interfacing and lining I'm afraid. (Pick up a leather jacket and see.)

He's gorgeous! In her youth I was told repeatedly that our girl could stand to lose a little.
She lived to be 19! A little padding isn't always a bad thing!!

He's pleasingly plump Cory. MCat weighs around the same, and he's not a large cat. His fore-arms are like Popeye's though.

And that photo is taken from an angle that accentuates his adorable floofy tummy.

I think you should play Bonnie Tyler's "I Need A Hero", to him, to remind him of his heroism. And dance about like mad things together.

Awww, he looks fine - and is gorgeous. 5.5kg isn't that much for a large male, my petite madame is almost 4kg.

He was in the paper as he is a hero, but also he could be in the paper for 'fluffiest belleh to need tickling'.

I am soothed - the belly was offered last night. I fell asleep face down in it to the gentle accompaniment of ear-splitting snores.

The Metacam has changed Mr C's life. He is now horribly frisky.

By which I mean horrible - last night he kept waking me up to knead ie scratch me on the shoulder till I woke up, all through the night. It was awful. I groaned and pushed him off, but it's hard to deal with when you are asleep.

My shoulder is raw. I realised when I woke up stinging and sore this am he drew blood 35 times before I stopped counting.

The weals are awful, still swollen and scarlet nearly 24 hours on, and I think the little sod has given me asthma. Is there anything I can do about this? For the first time ever, he's being shut out of the bedroom tonight.

Don't even ask about my forearms - the GP asked if I was self-harming, as did all the family. Not funny really.

The metacam may actually be allowing him to sharpen his claws because it's quite difficult when you have sore bones. Have you seen him scratching at all?

Oh - and will he allow you to nip his sharp claw tips?

I think you need to see a gp, homebargains do cheap tea tree oil. It is brilliant for taking the pain and inflammation out of cat scratches.

Dh has an inhaler now we have the cat.

Thanks Fluffy, I have an inhaler that I used today. Little bugger is next to me smiling in sleep, fudgy and beyond adorable.

Cozie - he won't even let the vet cut his claws. They are newly minted scalpels. But I am asking them to do it when he is under anaesthetic next week.

In the winter if this happens I wear two jumpers over pajamas. I can't bear booting him out of bed - neither of us will sleep - but I must get time to heal.

Feeling your pain Cory. I too have been asked about self harming from the GP as he eyed the slashy marks on my arms suspiciously. The only thing that calmed MCat down was getting him a younger brother.

The Metacam could be making him feel a bit high? Hopefully he'll calm down. Or knit him some mittens.

Thanks Rubbish. It is embarrassing, no? Mr C went pleasingly berserk this morning, yowling and doing wall of death at breakfast - I really think he is much better.

Obviously in the end I could not ban him from the bed. He hopped up and flipped on his back asking for a cuddle so happily. I realised if anyone was going to change their behaviour it would be me. So I wore 3 tee shirts and he snored next to me for 10 hours of cuddlesome bliss.

Mr C is now also in receipt of a fantastic perk from my new work - a box of rare roast beef trimmings, to be delivered weekly. He is having an op on Thursday (fangs) so I am feeding him lots of pure protein for healing.

He'll love the beef. It's like a graze box for cat.

So true about the behaviour, I cant even turf the front garden because the neighbours cat sleeps under the bushes in the summer and I feel guilty about taking his snoozing spot off him.

It's not even my flipping cat.

They should do Graze for cats! Imagine their little gleeful furry faces when they unwrap the box containing tuna pate, minced baby rabbit with catmint seeded flatbreads!

You'd have to ration it though, I can tell you from personal experience that if you eat a whole graze pack in an hour you feel a bit sick.

Mr C is absolutely not fat. He is, as my girl describes herself "Fluffy". (Evidence attached). Mr C is gorgeous BTW.
