What is your cat called and how did you choose its name?

When we collected our old (and now late) cat from the rescue centre they described him as a 'bruiser'. So that was his name. Bruiser... or Bruce for short.

Belle because she is so beautiful and I liked it.

Also had a ginger boy called Freddy, a grey boy called Smokey and a black girl Meg.

DS1 has decided any future cat's shall be called Sheldon!

Sausage and Pickle, after my mum's childhood pet names for my brother and me. Sausage is a tricky name to shout in the street when he's gone missing, and we don't get "Sausage Surname" at the vet nearly enough for my liking.

His only nickname is Saussles, but Pickle gets called all sorts. I'm currently referring to him as Gato Estupido, hoping to move on to German and then Russian once I tire of Spanish (and once I find out what 'stupid cat' is in those languages).

Miss Mojo, short for Mojito. I got her and her sister Margarita (sadly no longer with us) in my mid twenties and thought cocktail themed names were clever

Nimbus because she's very long haired and grey and looks a bit like a cloud (cumulonimbus...she's grumpy tooike a storm!).

Valka - from How to Train Your Dragon 2 because DD thinks tortoiseshell is a Viking colouring and that our cat is a warrior like Valka.

Frodo.

Because he was a little adventurer with big feet.

Mia- because she miaows a lot. Boring.

Salam because she is a mostly black cat and I was a huge fan of Sabrina the teenage witch when I was younger.

She has recently had kittens and they are called Hagrid, Albus and Serius. We also lost one and that one was called Lupin, Harry Potter inspired. They are going to new owners soon so of course new names. No more cats here, Salam is getting snipped, thank god!

My mum's cat is named Tallulah after Bugsy Malone!

Harry because he came from a rescue and they'd already named him and we kept him as it suited him.

William was named as he was a poor old stray I decided he needed a royal name.

Two rescued brothers called Hector and Hamish. They were already 6, so did know their names, although Hector seldom answers to his. Before that I had Radley, who got his name through playing with the dog on my handbag! I like more unusual names for my cats and would never have had these two called Hector and Hamish.

Top Cat (his brother was Barney) and Freya, for no particular reason but I later found out that cats were the goddess's familiars.

I have Twitch and Luna. Twitch was a stray cat who I intended to TNR but he never left. We think he's about 6 years old. Luna was named because she was born on a new moon, the name now suits because she is an absolute lunatic. She's currently 6 months old.
