When we collected our old (and now late) cat from the rescue centre they described him as a 'bruiser'. So that was his name. Bruiser... or Bruce for short.

rainbowstardrops · 05/07/2015 20:38

My girly cat is called Ebony - because she's completely black!

CandyAppleFudge · 05/07/2015 20:38

OJ- he has A white o shape marking on his side.
Osker- always liked the name

Rosieposy4 · 05/07/2015 20:39

Oreo, following a hobnob, whose predecessor was biscuit Biscuit Grin

givemushypeasachance · 05/07/2015 20:42

Just thought I'd add that mine were named at the rescue but I heartlessly changed them - Monty was Coco, which was okay but a bit like a clown, and poor Rolo was Prince Charming! Just no - it had to go...

My mum has two rescues which she was going to rename but she claims they knew their names so she couldn't do it - which is how she has a cat which should formally be called Suki #2 as our family cat when I was little was called that as well! The first one a tortie, the second a giant ginger tabby of little brain who clearly doesn't know her name but it's been three years now so don't see her being rechristened any time soon.

BibiBlocksbergv2 · 05/07/2015 20:42

Think you've definitely got an Arwen there WhenMarnieWasThere :)

Always imagined it'd be tricky naming a kitten - you don't really know what kind of character they'll grow into - or do you? Never had a kitten so probs talking out of my rear end...again :)

I have a kitten named Angel next door, she's anything but atm lol

'Pierre' - rolling that around my tongue, very sophisticated, love to shout that at bedtime - in a Hyacinth 'Bouqet' type voice :)

SuffolkNWhat · 05/07/2015 20:44

Darcy. After Mr Darcy. He's a very proud black Tom.

Shoegal0305 · 05/07/2015 20:46

Ole, Sheri and Freddy.

Ole and Sheri named after my ex partners obsession with Man U, Ole Gunnar Solchar and Teddy SHERIngham.
X
And Freddy just because I like the name and he's fit his name perfectly he IS a Freddy!

Kraggle · 05/07/2015 20:47

Dh and I each got to pick a name for our boy/girl cats. He went with Fry for the boy from Fry in Futurama (now know as Fryboy) and I went with Willow after Willow in Buffy.

So original are we!

BibiBlocksbergv2 · 05/07/2015 20:47

Primce Charming? Agree that definitely had to go. Ready granded cats in my life have included only 'tame' ones so far - casper, tigger, smudge, jake & recently milo from four doors up who is spending his family's 'baby moon' with Jake :)

Coffeethrowtrampbitch · 05/07/2015 20:48

This is Magic, who came to live with us last week.

She is lovely and a real live wire. Her white markings looks slightly like a mustache and gloves on her front paws, so she looks very like a little magician!

BikeRunSki · 05/07/2015 20:50

When we got our rescue cat he didn't have a name. We wren't going to have DC at the time, so we named him after a sportsman we both admired - he was Eddy, after the Belgian cyclist Eddy Mercx. He died a fortnight ago. We did have DC - ds (6) had decided that our next pet will be called Clancy after Ed Clancy, the British cyclist.

tomatodizzymum · 05/07/2015 20:54

We were going to get two male kittens and call them Kit and Kat. When they arrived we had a male and a female because DD fell in love with the female. She had to be Smudge, obviously, so the other one is KitKat. She's a madam and her ears are smaller now she's grown into them (horror film portfolio shot was actually a yawn Smile) (other picture) her brother KitKat.

Brillo
"Zazzles, we weren't keeping him so gave him a silly name after the Big Bang theory when Sheldon gets lots of cats, then we kept him, and he is very Zazzy"
YES! I love that you did this! I wanted to do the same. But we liked the names our kittens already had. And you do need a ZAZZY cat to pull it off Grin

SmokingGun · 05/07/2015 21:11

Fenella if that was to me, yes he is.

His mum was a snow point Bengal and his dad is a normal Bengal so he is an odd mix of grey/brown/sandy coloured.

acatcalledjohn · 05/07/2015 21:14

See username.

Because cats should have unusually normal 'hoomin' names Grin

BibiBlocksbergv2 · 05/07/2015 21:19

:) @ 'hoomin' names (a fellow icanhazcheeseburger fan i presume?)

Adorable the way John is blowing that Raspberry btw.

blacktreaclecat · 05/07/2015 21:19

Treacle - she's a dark brownish black colour. Toffee, also black, because it sounds good with Treacle.
I like food names for cats. I would have gone for TS Eliot names if they had suited them though, I'd love a Misty short for Mr Mistofelees.

BibiBlocksbergv2 · 05/07/2015 21:28

Never posted pics before, want to join in :)

Smudge - grey hydrangea (sp?) enthusiast

Jake - black & white, long haired & fat

Milo - skinny black & white curled up by plant pot

Him & Jake are like a dieting club's before & after pics when they're together :)

Ours is called Pater after Peter Bonnetti the footballer whose nickname was the cat

AlpacaPicnic · 05/07/2015 21:39

Acatcalledjohn... I totally agree. Meet my two boys, Matthew and Jeffrey. Named after a pair of wrestling brothers, we got them as teeny kittens and they loved rolling round the floor together.
Matthew is the black and white one, Jeffrey is the smokey one.

We have four cats:
Clementine - a dilute calico BSH (1st pic) the name is absolutely perfect for her; Clem for short! She came first
Then we have two Ocicat brothers - Marcel & O'Malley (Marcel after Marcel the shell from YouTube as he was an odd kitten, & O'Malley for the Artistocats (he's a big boy!)
Then we also took in a little black & white moggie who is Marzipan (Marzi for short) - who also suits her name completely.

My mum's cats are Luna & Lola - love those names too!

I love naming animals :) like to come up with unusual names

Billy, or Bill.I.Am.

Named by dd aged 2 after her favourite toy which was a skittle.

He was a spare cat for a while as we had an elderly cat who hated him intensely. He lived in the conservatory until the elder cat died and he was promoted to Numero Uno. Smile
