Cat walking round with its tongue sticking out?

Have tried Googling this: is it a symptom of something: thirst, teeth?

I've caught her doing it twice in 48 hours.

Is she in heat? Mine does it then. Other symptoms include constant mewing, rolling around and attempted sexual assault on my two boy cats.

I think she is just feeling the heat a little - like dogs pant to cool down.
My cat has done it before - nothing wrong with her. Just make sure she has water available and it isn't too warm if you can.

unlucky83 · 03/07/2015 22:21

And mine's neutered -so not in heat!

GinUpGirl · 03/07/2015 22:21

I think she's just hot!

stareatthetvscreen · 03/07/2015 22:23

hot and stressed

MrsBertMacklin · 03/07/2015 22:28

Thank you, any tips on tricking her to drink more water? I've got bowls out in every room and have been changing them twice a day / dropping ice in, but she's not drinking any more than normal.

She'll be finding a way to drink. My cat resolutely refuses to drink water out of a bowl, no matter how hot it is. I have literally never seen her drink water or milk. But she's still alive, so must be finding it somewhere.

MrsBertMacklin · 03/07/2015 22:32

Not mine, Devora, she's an indoor cat, no access to other water sources.

How far out? Mine forgets to put hers away properly sometimes and it hangs out about 5-10 mm until she needs it for something.

Devora · 03/07/2015 22:44

Bathroom tap? Your water glass? Toilet? Grin

MrsBertMacklin · 03/07/2015 22:57

Definitely not. Unless she's worked out how to use my spare keys to nip to the pub, she's only drinking from her bowls and fountain. Stupid heatwave.

Is she panting as well? If so, most likely caused by the hot weather. Add a couple of tablespoons of water to her wet meals.

Is she out of kittenhood? One of mine was a proper drama lama during teething, walking around on back legs, pawing at his stuck out tongue.

My poor Silver did this and was diagnosed with heart failure. It wasn't good.
