Mate was on about how it's not the done thing anymore?

Is she right?

Yes, she's right. Dairy is no good for animals.

You can buy milk for kittens though. It's not the same.

Although cows milk is good for animals such as calves obviously Grin

LettuceLaughton · 23/05/2015 11:39

No! Cows milk is awful for them. If you MUST you can by 'cat milk'.

PlayingHouse · 23/05/2015 11:45

Wow! You live and learn. Why is it bad for them?

I haven't given them milk btw - was just telling my mate how I found K2 sat on the table trying to drink milk from a cup with one paw.

I thought sitting on the table was the only illegal activity he had committed but it seems he was illegally drinking as well. The little scamp!

Cats are lactose intolerant so it causes the runs. Also too many calories.

shaska · 23/05/2015 12:10

You're not supposed to do it and you can get cat milk which is lactose free/low (which I always wonder about suggesting to the lactose intolerant as a cheap alternative to soy etc...) but ime cats never got the memo so they still all seem to think milk is delicious, and while it might cause stomach upsets to a greater or lesser degree, it's not something you need to be overly worried about in the occasional milk theft type situation.

I let the lamb lick my yoghurt and ice cream bowls

holmessweetholmes · 23/05/2015 12:17

My cat loves milk and will always try and sneak some out of people's finished cereal. But I don't let her because it makes her sick every single time, even if she only gets a quick lick.
