what is your cat's fave toy?

I need to get more toys for my cat, she has bought in 2 cats of the past 3 days. She has only ever bought in 1 mouse before that in the past 2 years.

What does your cat like?

pets at home do a squeaky mouse, that's very popular here.

BettyCatKitten · 18/05/2015 09:00

My youngest loves feathers, so we gather them on walks.
She also loves the toys attached to the rods.

VolumniaDedlock · 18/05/2015 09:01

my dressing gown cord

Spydra · 18/05/2015 09:07

Feathers on a fishing rod - for the "hunt" and a Kong kickeroo to "kill" afterwards!

if you go the hunt but not the kill she'll kill a foot/leg instead and that hurts!

CMOTDibbler · 18/05/2015 09:08

Alas my 3 cats would far rather catch their own toys than play with things. If in the right mood, hair bands and the plastic seals from milk bottles are played with enthusiastically, but I don't think they substitute for prey

WestEast · 18/05/2015 09:11

The curtains.
And a £1.50 mouse on a spring that I got from pound stretcher.
But mainly the curtains.

MrsBertMacklin · 18/05/2015 09:13

Thinking of getting BertCat a 'Flying Frenzy 4EVA' tattoo, she loves it that much. As soon as I open the cupboard where it's kept, she starts chirping.

That and balls of foil.

D0oinMeCleanin · 18/05/2015 09:15

A slice of bread Hmm

It loves nothing more than "killing" a slice of bread. All. Over. The. House.

We have a treat dispensing ball somewhere. That's fairly popular, almost as popular as a slice of bread.

That being said, my cat is not normal. It begs for Doritos fgs and salt and vinegar crisps and loves a bit of lettuce. It's fed a mixture of fresh raw meat and applaws tins, but will happily leave that in favour of crisps and/or salad.

TranquilityofSolitude · 18/05/2015 09:18

Treat dispensing ball is the only thing that really holds his attention. We bought it to give him some exercise but he soon worked out that if he sits in a corner and rolls it repeatedly into the walls all the treats come out...

He has a lot of other toys but they are largely ignored. He will chase a laser pen occasionally but there's the obvious frustration in never actually "catching" the dot.

My arms and hands. Or whatever he can pounce on.

He likes mint matchmakers cellophane too. Don't ask me how I know.

Bamaluz · 18/05/2015 17:39

Ping pong balls drive him crazy, but he loses them under the furniture. Although trying to get them out again keeps him amused for a while.

Very annoying when he finds one in the middle of the night and makes as much noise as possible as it rebounds off the skirting boards.

strawberrypenguin · 18/05/2015 17:45

A fluffy orange catnip stuffed mouse! Anything with catnip should be a fun play thing! but might not stop the actual live catching - it's all instinct they can't help themselves!

RubbishMantra · 18/05/2015 17:58

Sort of imagining Do0inCat making himself a crisps and salad sandwich. Or being one of those people you go to lunch with, who only orders the salad. Maybe he wants to be a vegetarian?

The little Monsieur loves a bit of cellophane. From cigarette packets though. Blush

They both love the Flying Frenzy.

chockbic · 19/05/2015 09:44

Are you teaching LM bad habits?

Jack's gone mad for mint. Must think it's menthols.

00100001 · 19/05/2015 09:46

laaaaaserpointer!

RubbishMantra · 19/05/2015 12:07

Ah, just remembered, when MCat started hunting again, I got him a load of those squeaky mice from the pet shop - about a quid each. They look very realistic. Both my cats play fetch with them, holding by the tail, then stalk over to me. They look like proper little predators! I got them the electronic squeaky mouse from Pets At Home, but after much excitement on the first day, they really couldn't be arsed with it.

fenneltea · 21/05/2015 09:01

The favourites in my house are the Da Bird, a Yowwwie catnip mouse, Cat it maze thing where they have to chase a ball, a Kickeroo, laser, pipe cleaners (one cat carries them round and will drop them in any water she finds.) and hair bobbles.

MokunMokun · 21/05/2015 09:10

Mine loves those little rubber bouncy balls. She found a bit of pipe cleaner that kept her going for ages and yes to the bread too. A bit of tinsel was very popular at Christmas. I've never bought cat toys. We have too much stuff that the cats love already.

QueenFuri · 21/05/2015 21:04

Her mouse from Sainsburys which she ripped the tail off, the dog whose tail she likes to play with much to his horror, ear buds and my phone charger!!

lbab1702 · 21/05/2015 22:12

A box of tampax is a favourite in my house. Individual tampons carried and deposited all over the place. And packets of tissues are good for 'killing' and ripping to pieces.

MadauntofA · 21/05/2015 22:15

Hair bobbles!

BelindaBagwash · 22/05/2015 00:48

Anything that contains catnip. My cat has a selection of mice, birds, fruit etc soft things stuffed with catnip and he goes into an almost orgasmic trance when he gets anywhere near them

tomatodizzymum · 22/05/2015 01:08

Your cats bought in 2 cats of the past 3 days!! I'm hoping you mean mice! Shock or you've got a scarface claw type of cat.

Nearest pet shops don't sell cat toys (really rural area that only caters for dogs) so we have to improvise.

We provide: Pen lids, lego, playmobil, bouncy balls, old dummies, wool, string etc.
They like: Each other, the dogs head, the dogs tail, the dogs ears, the dogs legs or any part of the dog they can claw on, my hand, my hair, my clothes or any part of me they can claw on. Smudge also likes snakes and scorpians (bloody cat has a death wish!).

SonceyD0g · 22/05/2015 01:17

The other cat! Also like feathers, rubber bouncy balls and quality street wrappers (they only get them at Xmas tho). We used to have a cat that liked playing cards. You would throw one up in the air and he would catch it then bring it to you so you could throw it again. We also had one that would rush to sit in the sink every time you turned the tap on and would only sit on your knee if you were sat on the loo! And one that would beg for chips, they were his favourite food. Think we attract weird cats!
