Do you suncream your cats?

We have 2 kittens. They are white and black.

The vet said we need to suncream their ears and noses (these parts are white if that makes a difference) because of sunburn

Is this actually an issue or the vet being over cautious?

My mum recently adopted a ginger and white longhair, whose owners were neglecting him horribly. Only 18m old and has had to have the tips of his ears removed from cancer (he was never allowed indoors..or fed so was in a bad way)

He's healthy now ..many large vet bills and a lot of care from my mum...and gorgeous...and gets creamed!

I probably ought to do Obie's ginger nose?

Well, the cat sun cream has arrived. I haven't tried it yet as today I had to put Frontline on the cats as one is scratching a lot. Maybe tomorrow.

Not on mine but they are both completely black and tend to avoid the sun (presumably because they get too hot).

I do BuggersMoggy's ears in the better weather. He doesn't particularly enjoy it (and immediately goes to role in dirt so they just look like crusty ears Hmm ) but he is a very active outdoor cat so I would prefer to be cautious.
