Hope anyone can give me some views on this. Our cat is only 1, and recently had heart failure, the cause being acute HCM that he was most probably born with.
That was just over a month ago, and he was very poorly (they didn't think he would make it). He was discharged on medication twice a day (am and pm) and for now he is an indoor cat. Prognosis is very poor - he probably won't survive the year as there is no cure and his is quite a severe case. Currently he is taking his meds well (in his food) and is seeming quite sprightly, but 2 weeks ago he had a slight relapse and was back in hospital overnight on a drip to take fluid away from his lungs ad they upped the meds a bit.
The problem is, we had planned a holiday this summer and I am not quite sure what to do while we are away. Family can't really have him at their house because they both have beloved pet dogs. They might be able to pop in a few times a day to see him. There is the risk that he might start having another relapse while we are away so needs watching a bit. Obviously a cattery is an option - would they watch him enough though? Which is the best option? Obviously there is a good chance that in 4-5 months he might have passed away too
.
WWYD please?
