Scary moments with your cats...

As a balance to Chockbic's "nice moments with your cats".

Lounging in bed this morning, DH still asleep. Sinister MCat just staring like he wanted to kill us. He did that for half an hour. Constant staring.

Creepy cat. (I do luffs the sinister bastard though)

Sugar I got an induction hob for that very reason. It's easier to clean too, what's not to like.

RubbishMantra · 27/03/2015 22:13

I now have an image of Ripper carefully hiding a crawly spider in your stone-on-a-rope 'n' brush combo.

chockbic · 29/03/2015 13:15

You mean in a sabotage kind of way?

RubbishMantra · 29/03/2015 13:48

Most definitely. He picked it up in his mouth, most carefully. Resisting the urge to chew it's legs off. Then eat the juicy and squishy bits. Then hid it in the crack he'd already engineered.

The spider was clever though. Crawled out of the crack, and hid in the bristles. Ready to master his clever escape.

Spider outsmarted basement Jack the Ripper.

chockbic · 29/03/2015 15:49

Well I think the spider and kitten worked in cahoots to both annoy and scare me.

I'm sure I could hear Jack chuckling to himself.

RubbishMantra · 01/04/2015 18:51

Spider was probably scared into collusion by Basement Jack. I won't nibble your legs off and spit them out if you hide in the pumice stone. We shall laugh about it. Because I shall let you live, if you do as I say.

I suspect the beautiful friendship is over.

Found half a spider's leg in the bathroom.

RubbishMantra · 02/04/2015 13:35

Oh dear.

At least spider isn't living in fear for his life anymore.

When Mcat was a killer, I always suspected he really brought the various wildlife in to make friends with. Then got petulant when they wouldn't play anymore. Bit them to liven them up a bit, tasted the blood and thought, "Delicious!". (In the same way Gordon Ramsey exclaims it when talking about his own food.) Then ate his new friend.

Am now imagining chef Ramsey doing same to his wife and children.

Our Bruce decided to take a stroll out of a narrowly opened window from an upstairs bedroom, onto an even narrower window ledge. I had to reach out quickly before he got out of reach and bring him in by the scruff of his neck.

ValancyJane · 04/04/2015 17:33

Scariest moment was when I thought we'd accidentally baked the cat.

We were cooking tea and had put the oven on to heat up. Left the kitchen and noticed we hadn't heard the kitten (who was then only three months so still a tiny little thing) in a while. OH searched upstairs, I searched downstairs, and nothing. I then heard a bang from the oven, called his name and heard another tiny bang, opened the oven door and smoke came billowing out.

I screamed and started crying hysterically as you do, OH came down - turned out it was just something that had caught on the bottom of the oven. Kitten was actually behind the oven, having squidged through a teeny gap in a cupboard that led to the back of the oven.

Honest to god, for twenty seconds I thought we'd baked the kitten, and I was inconsolable for about five minutes after he emerged dusty from behind the bloody cooker!!

RubbishMantra · 06/04/2015 10:40

Well I think baked kitten must surely win the threadValancy.

Laying on his back, mauling a chunky ol' wasp.

Was chasing a butterfly earlier this afternoon.

RubbishMantra · 06/04/2015 18:40

The butterfly chasing sounds quite fey. Grin Probably learnt they're less stingy than wasps.

I had a disturbing display from MCat this morning. Dragging the shag bag about and trying out lots of different positions. Which included showing me how to do "spooning".

OP posts:
chockbic · 06/04/2015 19:49

Oh no is he learning moves from MKitten?

Jack is fey. He reminds me of Michael Portillo.

RubbishMantra · 06/04/2015 19:57

Sadly MCat's always shagged stuff. I reckon Mkitten picked up the habit from him. MK only has the one position in his repertoire. For now.

Michael Portillo. Grin

I'm going to get him a pink jacket/coat for his birthday.

He was kneading on my towel (bath, not sanitary) this morning. No humping, although I feared it for a moment.

RubbishMantra · 07/04/2015 18:13

MCat began the humping at about 3 and a half. Can develop at any age, unfortunately. But happily, they don't make a squishy mess.

I definitely think you should get him a pink jacket. With butterflies on it. Perhaps some sequins. Invite him to embrace his fey-ness. Express himself. Maybe knit him some legwarmers?

Steady on. I like a bit of maleness, just not too much.

Besides, he might get set upon by the farm toms.

RubbishMantra · 07/04/2015 19:08

Only because they were jealous of his fabulous accessories. Grin

Unfunny but majorly scary moment with our current pair when they were maybe 6 months old: house fire, caused by an electrical fault. It gutted the kitchen and living room to blackened shells. We couldn't find them in time before we had to get out and I was inconsolable while the fire brigade dealt with everything. When we were finally let back in, I couldn't find them. They're both jet black, it was late and there was only the torch the firemen had let us borrow to see by. Couldn't hear a sound. Couldnt find them anywhere, not in the garden (might have jumped out the window?) not on the roof (might have gone out the skylight?). It was pitch black with only our phones to see by and everything was covered in soot and ash and water. One last look around before we had to leave for the night, and I catch some movement out of the corner of my eye - it's fluffcat, cowering on top of the wardrobe in our bedroom. Grabbed her, and found lankycat hidden in the bed. You've never felt relief like it.

We ran over to the out of hours vet clinic with them both - they were both fine, but fluff was a bit singed and wet. We took them to my MiL's where to top off their really exciting day, they got to meet dogs for the first time - MiL's really enthusiastic puppy.

They're both absolutely fine now, and are even quite entertained by the wood burning stove we have in the new house. Still not keen on MiL's puppy though.

chockbic · 08/04/2015 17:46

What a fright, Hammock. Glad they were OK.

RubbishMantra · 08/04/2015 20:05

Blimey CatHammock! I'd have proper shit myself. Been terrified. Thank god they were OK.

Reminds me, couple of weeks ago, DH left the hob on. The oven glove caught fire. Both my lads cowered under the bed away from the (very toxic smelling) smoke. Their miaowing was what woke us up and alerted me to the mini-fire.

A furry smoke detector. Coming to Lakeland.

When he was a tiny kitty, he climbed up the chimney.

RubbishMantra · 09/04/2015 14:15

Yes, much more attractive than the ugly plastic ones. Neither of which even gave a beep during the smoky goings on! Yet shrieking at mad, random times in the middle of the night, for reasons only known to themselves.

I was taken aback at their instinct to hide under something away from the smoke. And that they both hid together.
