Did you fit your own cat flap or did you pay someone to do it?

Not sure how to go about getting a cat flap fitted.

Pretty sure I can't do it myself.

But who do you pay to do it?

If you don't have the tools for making holes in wood/plastic (depending what you're fitting it into) then you'd be better off getting in any general builder type really. Although if you're fitting it into the thin plastic that you get in the bottom part of UPVC doors then just a drill and a hacksaw should do the job.

Anyone who advertises themselves as an 'odd job' person should be fine.

I have an excellent handyman who takes most things in his stride but I think it's pretty do-able if you're even remotely handy and have/can borrow the right tools.

Why not have a look at some of the instructional videos on the Sureflap site. They'd give you a rough idea of what's involved even if you're not planning on a chip flap.

(Be warned - it's one of the worst not the best site in the world - so 'busy' that you wouldn't want to access it with a headache - so just go to 'Support' and you'll find two or three videos on installation. I'm sure there are also plenty on Youtube.)

I did mine myself and I am dreadful at DIY. I do have rubbish wooden doors though so if you're looking at PVC or similar, might be better to get someone in?

I borrowed an electric drill and jigsaw (made me feel very powerful)and went for it.. pretty straightforward to be honest and i felt very proud afterwards!

I did mine with OH and nearly broke up over it! I don't recommend it in a PVC door, turns out they are full of polystyrene and horrible to cut!

I've done it in a wooden door, and a flimsy plasticky wall. However, I drew the line at doing it through a brick wall - I got a builder/plumber to do it.
