2 year old rescue girl - forgotten what she needs

It's been nearly 2 years since we lost our cat and after a long delay we're finally ready to rehome

I have a 4 and 2.5 year old so went to the rspca centre with dc to check out the cats and my 2.5 ds's reaction. dd is already obsessed with all things cat! all very positive and we chose a very confident, playful 2 year old.

but now I've forgotten what she needs. previous cat was a stray so dictated her own way, but we didn't have dc then. by the time they came along she had mastered her domain

will be keeping dc on a very short leash and only supervised contact. and will leave cat to explore on her own. anything else??

A 'safe' place for her to go when she wants to be left alone - we started out with a cardboard box in the dining room so he had a place he knew was his own. He also was kept in there overnight for a while, until he settled in.

Make sure the litter tray is somewhere as private as possible - any interruptions could mean pooing elsewhere in the house, which I'm sure none of you need and is distressing to the cat too. Maybe two litter trays would work well, as then if people are near one there is another place to go? I guess covered ones might help both with cat's privacy and children's curiosity about what's in there.

Routine is helpful. Somewhere to hide which is secure i.e. where the kids cannot reach. Can't think of much else really. Have fun!

Ooh,how about a Flying Frenzy as a moving in present? Mine go mental for it, and your DCs can have interactive play with her. without getting scratched or chomped

Also some deep shelves covered in carpet placed on the walls. Then puss has a place to escape from enthusiastic DCs.
