Please remind me that my cat will forgive me for getting her spayed

She's a darling little orange rescue kitten and she's going to be spayed on Tuesday.

There is no question that she's getting done, I know why it has to be done and I'm 100% happy for her to be spayed.

But I have to put her in her cat box all hungry and bewildered, take her to the vet, hand her over and leave her there and I feel so so mean. And our other cat is older and was neutered when she came, so she won't even have her stepsister along for comfort

She will forgive me, won't she? Please tell me it will be all right...

It should be fine so don't worry. Lots of TLC and a nice fire/heater for when she comes home should do the trick.

She will be fine. And when you get her home she will be able to have her food again and you can give her loads of cuddles. The vets will take good care of her.

Sparkling Cat has to have dental treatments and i hate it when I can't give her any food from midnight the night before, and she always looks sad in the carrier.

I had my cat's leg and one of her toes amputated this year and she's forgiven me.

Thank you both...that's much appreciated! Poor Sparklingcat, sorry to hear she has dental problems - but it's good to know she still loves you despite the trips to the vet.

I will buy some tuna and make sure our massive greedy grown-up cat doesn't hog it all when we get back on Tuesday night.

Yes- if it's any consolation, I heard She Who Must Be Obeyed the Chief Vet Nurse actually cooing at Seniorboy when he was behind the scenes after his last GA. The staff at the practice will treat her with great love and care.

When she lives a comfortable life to a decent age, not worn out from having litter after litter of kittens, she may just forgive you ... (Plus you don't have to put up with the ear-splitting yowling of a queen on heat.) Second cozie's advice on post-op pampering. Just something to be aware of - when one of my cats has been to the vet, the others can be a bit "off" with them for a while when they return (prob. smell different/strange), but it all soon settles down again. All the best for Tuesday.

Just picked my little ginger boy up from the vets after neutering. He's sixonths old, I felt the same and wanted to stay at the vets to make sure he was ok, a lovely vet nurse had to gently shoehorn me out of the door but he seems fine since coming home bit groggy and quiet but more concerned with his litter tray as I washed it out and put fresh litter in it so of course he needs to pee on it and flick it all about

Sparklingcat came back a bit woozy from one dental. She was staggering about and bumping into things. I put her in her igloo bed for her own safety.

She's had tinned tuna, a handful of Dreamies and lots of very gentle stroking. Our other cat thinks it's marvellous - she gets some of everything without having to go to the vet.
