New kitten and flea advice - haven't a clue but am getting there!

We found a kitten a month ago, he had been left outside (dumped) near some bins, he had worms, fleas and ticks. I didn't see loads of fleas although to be fair I didn't know what one looked like having never owned a cat before! A vet gave it some worm & flea treatment and removed ticks. After careful consideration he is now staying! So I took him for his first jabs today and the vets sold me some more flea treatment. Now I am wondering....do I need to do my house with some kind of spray? I've not seen one since he had his first lot of flea treatment a month ago. Am I likely to have seen a flea by now if they are in the carpets and floorboards? I hoover every other day (vet told me about hoovering waking up the eggs). Do I need to bother treating house having not seen any evidence of any?

I use Indorex as an annual prophylactic on my carpets, soft furnishings and floor etc cracks - and hoover enthusiastically. That's just me but then I always take the view that tomorrow could be the day a new flea or egg comes into the household on me for example. Once an infestation is established, they can be the very devil to get rid of so I'd rather not get to that point.

Is he to go outside? And he's to be neutered and chipped shortly I assume? (He sounds as if he's of an age for it.)

personally if he hasn't now got fleas and you haven't seen any in the home or been bitten by any I would think it enough to give bedding a good wash and hoover throughly.

Some vets now do a pet plan for flea, worming and booster treatment which is quite good (normally about £10 a month) advocate I have found to be the best for fleas.

Yy to being neutered and chipped asap.

Agree with cozie. It will give you peace of mind.
