Just dropped boys off for neutering - recovery period

Eeek just dropped off my boys off (thanks thecatneuterer for your Celia Hammond recommendation) and I was wondering how long before they are back to their normal playful scrappy selves? DH is picking them up this afternoon and I can't wait to get them back. Is it just a few days - it has been nearly 20 years since I last did this and that was with girls, they seemed to take quite a while to recover.

Last cat we had neutered it was a complete non-event - he was back to normal the next day.

As with LastingLight. My boys have seemed to react to the GA more than the actual op so by the next day it was pretty well business as usual.

Yes, generally speaking it's a total non-event as far as the cats are concerned. As soon as they're fully-awake (which they will be by the time they're picked up) they should be their normal selves.

My two were still sleepy when they came home, once they had a snooze and woke up it was back to the normal mayhem.

Our ginger boy was sleepy for a week! His sister was straight off to the garden to find something to kill .guess it varies?

My youngest cat didn't notice a thing when he was neutered. He came home demand food then set about playing with his friends.

i think they deserve some chicken for din. thanks for reassurances, can't wait to see them later

My girl was 17 weeks old when she was spayed last month and you wouldn't have known she had it done. She was running about like a looney the minute she was let out her carrier! Its different for every cat though as my SIL's girl took a good few days to recover and had to wear a cone which mine didn't.

Well just come home and they are playing already! One had one testicle not fully descended so he had a bit more work poor thing. Is that common foes anyone know?

No experience of un-descended testicles I'm afraid.

MKitten had a reaction to the drugs that made him behave like a lunatic. He spent 8 hours running amok until he finally fell asleep.

But now the one with the bigger incision is going mad about his wound - I don't have a collar and he's biting himself....anyone know where I can get one out of hours?! I just made one by sewing clear plastic to his collar. Am hoping it'll work - he's sitting still now but looks v cross

there is a vet locally can get one there in the morning if needs be...
