Should she get any particular jabs at a year? Will the vet send me an invite? And I uae Bob Martin flea drops but keep reading don't use them? Why shouldn't I? One more thing. I haven't seen any fleas on her but she does leave little speckles on her chair which is probably flea dried blood is that right? What shall I do?

The bob martin is at best ineffective but can also poisen cats. It happened to my colleagues kitten.

Try advocate off the vets, it's £8ish a month but very effective. Your vet should send you a reminder, if she's a year and had jabs at 3 months then she is due in 3 months but do ring them because you would feel awful if she got ill.

She is lovely, is she a long hair?. Her paws are sparkling white. Is she your furry little princess?

Bob Martin have changed their active ingredient, so now it no longer kills cats (although other 'off the shelf' flea treatments still contain the dangerous ingredient), but it doesn't work well. I also think they should be boycotted forever as they continued to sell something for years that they knew killed hundreds of cats a year.

As Fluffy said you need Advocate or Stronghold which you can only get from a vet, or Advantage which you can also buy from Chemists and Pets at Home or online.

Kittens aren't vaccinated the second they're born. The first vaccine will have been given at around nine or ten weeks, with the second one three weeks later. So, assuming she was vaccinated at that age then her booster will be due when she is one year and three months old. Vets normally send reminder cards and equally you should have been given a vaccination card which will state the booster date.

She's had all her jabs. I've only used Bob martin for a few months because the pet shop said it was the same stuff you get at the vets. They love animals so I guess I trust their judgement. I adore my little lady. She is the fluffiest, cutest little thing ever! Her fur is beautiful, her eyes are huge, she's like a baby. She's super cuddly. I could just eat her Grin

It sounds like she has fleas though so get her some prescription treatment ASAP. You don't want the house infestated with fleas.

She won't be feeling on top form with fleas.

thecatneuterer · 27/09/2014 20:11

Bob Martin is now the same as Frontline, which is sold at vets, but fleas have acquired resistance to it, so you're better off with one of the others mentioned. Not to mention the fact that we shouldn't support a company that sold a product for years that they knew killed cats.

Bigoleheffer · 27/09/2014 20:24

Ok, will get to get Monday ans get some of the strong stuff. I've not seen any fleas yet. But definitely a bit mucky where she lies. Is there ever a time cats don't have fleas? Does anything work?

Advocate works well, there's Broadline too, it's got the same ingredient as frontline but our resident vet says her cats are ok on it.

I use frontline on the dark destroyer.

Bigoleheffer · 27/09/2014 20:43

Ok, just ordered frontline on Amazon but just read back and maybe I should have got advantage. Goodness. I hope I haven't bought the wrong stuff now.

Have you got time to cancel the order?

Bigoleheffer · 27/09/2014 20:55

Yes cozie. I've cancelled it. What shall I order?

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 27/09/2014 20:58

Order Advantage. And a flea comb so you can check for fleas.

Fluffycloudland77 · 27/09/2014 21:10

It's not cheap to own a furry tyrant Grin

Fleas congregate on my cats ears so I pick them off and flush them down the loo.

Bigoleheffer · 27/09/2014 22:27

My little lady costs me a small fortune! I'm faint hearted. There's no way I'm sitting picking fleas. I've got a boy child. That's what he's for Grin I've got some lovely brushes and special shampoo. She can have a bath tomorrow and I'll buy some different flea drops. I'm pissed off the stuff I've been buying doesn't work. They shouldn't be allowed to sell it.

If you bath a cat (really? you're braver than I am!) then you can't use flea products for about a week afterwards I think it is as it stops it working. You'd be better off just buying the flea stuff and forgetting about bathing.
