AIBU to suspect that my cat was just PA at me?

She had an operation on her ear 9 days ago, so 9 days of house arrest We put her in the living room so she's had a fair amount of company She's a free-range cat normally. The stitches are due out tomorrow and hopefully we can all get back to normal.

She's been wearing a collar and has not been happy. She's trapped herself behind the sofa once, and then got her arm through the collar and extra-trapped herself.

DD2 and I have just come in to watch Octonauts sit with her. I fed her and she did her best to chase the food around with the collar on. Then she stepped over to us and shook her head/collar, spraying us with excess cat food.

Is this a form of protest? Should I refuse to feed her unless she promises not to do it again. What sanctions should I put in place for if she repeats this behaviour?

She must love you very much - it could have been so much worse!

If she learns to do punishment wees on the sofa you are in trouble.

She doesn't do punishment wees. DD2 did one for her we're having alternate day continence at the moment

I was trying to explain it was a front limb, but it's only a matter of time before cats work out opposable digits IMO.

Oh you mean collar as in cat vet's collar?! they hate those.

My mum and her 2 cats the male one hated his collar and she found our old white baby grows and used them on him.... which he liked a bit less but was able to move around the house - confined to a room - with open wound dressed etc. one day he lashed out and punched my mum in the face whilst being brought downstairs...

My mum got on the phone to me and was in shock at the cat! I had their siblings (all same litter).

Didn't help his sister kept hissing at him and swiping him every time she saw him. sisterly love eh?!

Oh, I wasn't having a go. I have said arm about my cats too and DH laughed at me. Stupid man hasn't realised they are as good as humans yet .

We have people-people and cat-people in our house. I used the phrase while trying to explain to toddlers why we should respect cat's personal boundaries. After all cat's do have personal space and how can you have that without being a personal

I didn't take offense it's not a real AIBU. I figured I'd find kindred spirits in the Litter Tray.

Unfortunately the ear isn't healed so another weekend of the cone-of-shame, more antibiotics, ear drops and anti-inflammatories. The vet did comment on what a good natured cat she is. No attempt to attack or swipe even when her ear was being cleaned out (just attempts to escape but that's a given)

I call front legs arms. I also introduce myself on the phone to the cattery as "fluffy cats mommy".

I have no shame left.

My cats come before DH in the packing order . Some days they come before the kids most days

I think my cat may now be developing Stockholm Syndrome. She's no longer attempting to escape and is being very affectionate to me. She's tolerating taking her meds better too apart from throwing some up

Day 12 of house arrest and her ear is not looking as good as hoped. Back to the vet tomorrow.
