My lovely cat has gone missing - tell me some tales of cats that have come back please?

Just to keep my mind off it, can anyone tell me some nice stories of your cat going missing & then coming back to you?

My lovely boy cat has been missing for 2 days now, he's never even stayed out overnight before, and we are worried sick. Have done all the leaflet drops, spoken to the neighbours, the local vets, postman & even the local builders (he used to go & share their lunch with them!) and put up posters so now I am sitting here trying not to think bad thoughts, so if you can share your happy ending stories to cheer me up, that would be appreciated.

One of my older cats was found at the old people's home down the road after 5 days missing, having been taken in by an old lady who missed her cat, and who was feeding him haddock & fruit cake... Grin I used to have to go & spring him from there on a regular basis.

Hi OP - have a look at my post further down about borrowing a trap from CP - a very happy ending for us this evening.

Worth a try with yours, perhaps?

Still no news Sad , but thank you for all of your kind thoughts. We miss him terribly and I worry so much in case he is trapped somewhere in this hot weather. All we can do now is just keep our fingers crossed that he's safe somewhere & we'll get him back eventually.

I heard of a cat that went missing for 7 years. Someone else took him in and then when the original owners became aware they let the "new" owners keep him.

Just want to send hugs.

The people we bought our house from (we stayed friends with them) lost their cat for 2 weeks. She was taken to the local vets who scanned her chip.

Sad news. A neighbour down the road called over the weekend to say that she thinks that she found the remains of his body in her car bonnet. We fear he may have been chased by a fox & wiggled in there to get away from it, but I guess we'll never know. I just wish we could bury him but she took him to the tip, which is really upsetting me at the moment. At least we have closure & know what happened to him rather than always wondering, but it's still heartbreaking Sad Thank you for all your positive thoughts though.

LadyCelia I am so sorry, that is heartbreaking news. In time having closure will help but at the moment

Strange that she took him to the tip. Sad

Hi LadyCelia, I am so sorry about your cat, that's so upsetting.

I am in a similar boat. One of our cats didn't come home on Tuesday. I put up a picture of her on Facebook, and someone sent me a message. We found her on the grass on the side of the main road last night. There have been lots of tears in our house.

Sending you hugs xxxxx

I had a Tom cat who disappeared for 3 weeks & then walked back in as if he'd never been away, he looked a but scruffy, but well fed & I never did find out where he had been, he was always a hunter though, so might just have gone feral for a while

A friends Tom cat did exactly the same thing - she'd given up in him as dead & was heartbroken - over 6 months later he walked back in through the cat flap as if it were just another normal day - she still hasn't found out where he got to either

So there's always hope & IME they only do it once - our current Tom did it too fir a couple if days - he won't go over the yard wall now, something obviously scared him off Grin
