Teamwork! (And other strange feline habits)

Mantrakitten follows me about the house when I'm swatting flies. He gobbles them up when they fall to the ground. To the point that if I pick up a tea towel, he rushes over, expecting a fly snack to follow. He prefers them if they are still wriggly, but will also eat the dead ones. With apparent enjoyment.

He has also begun to bring sticks into the house, so he can bat them about. I chuck them out, he brings them right back in again.

He likes to chew on my hair, clamping a paw firmly either side of my head.

He watches Mantracat having a poo in the garden, then copies him by digging a hole, then pretending to go to the toilet, chirrupping excitedly to himself. He repeats this until he gets distracted by something else.

Who else has cats with peculiar/endearing habits?

Ours did sticks as a kitten. Whacking three foot long twigs .

We did teatowel fly swotting one night but after we ran out of flies the cat decided he was obviously next on our hit list and lost his mind a bit so we had to put him in the kitchen alone until he calmed down.

Yours sounds more switched on than mine.

With Darling Oneago, I was expected, on pain of serious grumping, to lift him up towards the ceiling to get evening flies and daddy Long Legs.

Little nutter cat always sits on the side of the sink when I clean my teeth, and on the bath mat when I'm in the bath. It's like she thinks I might drown unless I'm supervised. While she was in hospital for four weeks being radioed, I found teeth cleaning a painfully lonely affair.

My carer loves cats, he sometimes meets mine at the top of the road where she 'tarts' for hem (rolls on her back and wiggles about until he tickles her belly).

Sometimes he tickles her belly and then leaves her to walk down to my house, so she runs, overtakes him and does it again.

She also grooms his beard.

She has also conned two different neighbours into thinking she is a stray.

Our houses have the gas and electric meters on the outside, she sits on my next door neighbours gas meter and all the other cats (neighbour's 5 plus a couple of others) gather round and sit looking at her as if she is telling them a story or preaching from the pulpit.

It is even funnier because she is so small, only 3Kg so half the size of a 'normal' moggie. I need to get a pic one day.

I think the cat-in-a-pulpit is known as a "cat's parliament", nobody really knows why they do it, just sort of enjoying each other's company maybe?

Every time I go to the loo, kitten follows me in. He hops onto the ledge, sits there for a minute, then carefully picks up the cleaning sponge then places it half way down the stairs.

He tried to lug a clod of earth and moss into the house the other day.

Probably not what you meant but I once saw GirlCat being picked on but BullyCat and BoyCat flew across the green to chase the bully off.

This morning GirlCat was growling at BoyCat and wouldn't let him out of the cat flap. He walked backwards and low to the ground to get away from her.

Cat-boy is bringing our ponds frog population one at a time. He doesn't kill them, just carries them around and thinks its ok to play with them.
I have also not been to the bathroom on my own since having him. He'll usually perch from the sink. Oh yes, then there's this weird habit of his in removing drain plugs and carrying them around the house...

Haha, Itsfab, so typical of a female feline...Not a tortie by any chance is she?

Lady-cats know the score for sure. (I have two silly boys. Three including DH)

That should have said GirlCat was being bullied by BullyCat and yes, GirlCat is a tortie.

BigFackcat likes to waken me in the middle of the night to miaow pitifully for the bath tap on. He drinks, uses it as a shower and washes his paws.

LittleFackcat brings home humane gifts such as pine cones, moss and twigs, his first catch was a tiny worm He was so proud.

Both Fackcats have magnets on their collars, it's not uncommon to hear a clunk and turn to see them stuck to the fridge they also bring home interesting metallic debris stuck to them too.

Beautifullymixed blackandwhitecat will ignore you all day long, mention the word 'fly' and she wants to play.
That means hoisting her solid body up on your shoulders and swooping her around the living room to attack the circle of flies around the light fitting. Her eyes gleam with delight.

Try this any other time without saying fly and she'll take your eyes out .
