Its only been two days & he already dictates what I do

I took in a 'very vicious' Bengal cross Oriental 11 week old kitten on Sunday as it was either that or they would of dumped him

I already had 5 cats and it turns out that not all cats just come in to eat & occasionally let you stroke them

Odie has to be the strangest of little things such as he is very vocal so spends his time telling me what to do & if he wants something such as fresh water (which is hourly) he will nip my ear
He can't have any doors shut in the house at all , he let's me know when its bed time by yowling at me then going to the bottom of the stairs repeatedly until I give in , he insists on sleeping in between me & dp , he even puts his head on the pillow

I'm absolutely furious that his owners were going to dump him as he is just the perfect companion & everything you could want from a cat.
Ok so he growls like a doh & hisses like a snake which scares the crap out of my huge Maine Coon but its bloody funny .

Does anybody else have a Bengal or an equally mad cat , I'd love to hear about them

Well so far today he has broken two ornaments because I didn't get up at 5 due to it been my day off so he has been zooming round my room chirruping like mad

He definitely likes his routine to stay the same

Oh they do - but make it your routine. And don't give in.

(And remove the 'china' from all points North. (Unless, of course, you have Great Aunt Ermintrude's special gift brooding in a cupboard - when now might be the time to give it pride of place somewhere!))

I'm hoping he will be less crazy when his new friend arrives on Friday as he will have somebody to play with

Well I have no direct experience of Bengals although plenty experience of Siamese (Orientals) and I have to say that from what I've heard on this board, the idea of a Bengal/Oriental cross would fill me with trepidation.

That would likely be one wilful cat - so you have to ramp up your own willpower or you'll have lost the war before it starts. (My own experience as well is that they actually like the security of having a strong willed owner. You might get the odd fit of petulance at the start but they soon settle down into your their routine.)

(I'm excepting other cats here. I've never managed to persuade a Siamese - by fair means or foul - that new cats are a good thing. He'll likely accept the ones who are already there because he's only a kit and it's all new to him but the best of luck with any future additions.)

Oh he is very wilful and has taken pride of place at been in charge of all my other cats so much so they are all sulking and keep giving me dirty looks

Going to try a routine for him not that I hold out much hope lol

Try to start the routine by keeping food delivery times as rigid as you can - but achievable: none of this 05.00 start stuff. And the great trick with Siamese/Orientals - in fact your main play - is that they become so bonded to you that they're very reluctant to do anything which might alienate you. So any seriously bad behaviour, just Exclude Them From The Presence. Shut the door on them and ignore them and their pleas for about 20 minutes.

(I have no idea how this would work on a Bengal (if anything would) so I'm just suggesting things which should work with his Oriental half.)

I have a Bengal x oriental cat and he's just the best cat ever!

He loves the kids, loves being carried round and playing dollies/vets.

We had a party once and a 3 year old came who was terrified of cats. By the end of the party he was wandering around with the cat slung over one shoulder.

The vet loves seeing him, he just wanders round trying to head butt and scam cuddles off everyone. He even likes dogs...

One word of warning, they are very territorial, we adopted ours because he was in a multi-cat household and had bad spraying/stress issues. He is much happier in an only cat household being the centre of attention.

I think he is on the verge of been a Melanistic as he seems to have 3 coats , bottom is white then grey then black tiger stripes

As micah says, territoriality and intolerance of other cats can be an issue with Bengals (though they do generally get on well with dogs). The rescue that I foster for has had to find new homes for three Bengals in the last few months because the Bengals were beating up other cats (in one case, all the other cats in the road!). But his Oriental side might temper any anti-cat tendencies. I grew up with a half-Oriental half-moggy and he (though very, very attention-seeking) was good with other cats.

All the Siamese I've known have got on OK with dogs (although I suspect they rather regard them as great crowd-pleasing, no-account lumps) but other cats are usually a whole different ball game. You were lucky, Gerund.

Ours was fine with the other cats in the house until he hit puberty. Peaking at around 18 months when he was separated. Even then he appeared to get on with them, grooming, playing etc. Just showed many signs of being stressed, and peed up every flat surface he could find…

Still the best cat though

He's an old boy now but I'd definitely get another oriental or bengal x if I can find one when the time comes...
