It didn't work!

It's the first time he's been since he was neutered last year and as soon as the carrier came out he was hissing and carrying on

He's normally a big softy, lets the dc dress him up like a baby etc

She's but a note on his records he's aggressive -I feel like a cat parent failure!

At least his brother just sat there like the big lump he is and let her get on with it

Are annual vaccines really worth it?

The annual vaccines are worth it I think, and if you have pet insurance, often its a requirement that they have their annual vaccines, otherwise its voids the policy! So best to check that if you have it!

I still bear the scars from forcing putting my cat into the carrier to go to the vets, she's normally a very sweet loving cat.

On the upside, she was more than happy to go back into after the vet had seen her.

I managed to sneak a look at Darling Twoago's vet record once and it said 'Good temperament.' I wandered around with a puffed up chest nearly all afternoon!

A tip for shoving cats in carriers - put it on its end so the cat gets poured into it, therefore giving you a chance to get the door shut whilst said cat works out exactly how you've managed to get it in there.

Madlizzy, that was my method. The cat was not best pleased. She was okay in the cardboard carrier but she learnt how to escape from that

Cardboard carriers are merely a minor challenge for a cat. :D

Get a carrier where the whole top opens, not one of those where you have to shove them in a cat sized hole in the front.

My cats never gone for the vet

He has gone for people I don't get on with though they were warned

Annual vaccinations are essential, you'd never forgive yourself if they got ill & died.

I 'pour' my cats into their carriers as well. My two black cats love showing off at the vets, acting super cute, and normally get something like 'lovely cat' written on their cards. It makes me ridiculously proud. My two tabby cats are awful though and one of them hid in the bin last time. They do not get 'lovely cat' comments...

We took our two cats to the vet last week. Got the basket out, locked the cat flap. Got SmoothCat in - he was all unsuspecting. FluffyCat - well, he'd seen what had just happened. DH opened the carrier, I grabbed FluffyCat, he braced all 4 paws against the edges of the carrier and escaped. Fecked off to the catflap and pasted his face up against it as it didn't open! You hvae never seen a cat look so flabbergasted.

They were absolute angels for the vet, as usual.

owl my cardboard carrier was like that. I put the cat in, took the dog out for a wee, picked the carrier up... suspiciously light. Cat was sitting at the top of the stairs. Smirking.

My cats choose to go in their carriers. The reason is because they use them as beds in the house (minus the metal front door), so they feel secure in them. Makes trips to the vet a lot less stressful.

That's so strange - normally cats (well my old 2 cats) were angels for the vets...

The only thing last time was either when a thermometer was rammed up one cat's bum or the vet was looking at her (same cat) because she had to have a lot of teeth out - then the cat hissed at her - and I knew this was rare because she'd never done this before!

My DM's cat went over to have a nosey at what the vet was putting on the computer, saw a little tub of cat treats that had been left open (presumably because the vet doesn't need to lock them up securely usually!!) and helped himself to a few of them!

I put mine in bottom first with the carrier standing on its end, by holding tail plus back feet in one hand & front paws in the other. The one that's least likely to escape goes in first, if they're both going, swiftly followed by the other. By the time they've sorted out who is sitting on whom, the door is shut

FatCat hunches down on the counter and growls like a bastard at the vet - HATES the thermometer.

Kitten bounces around like a loon being all cute. Totally opposite characters

Our little one would live in her carrier if possible. She loves it and quite often sleeps in it at home. Easy to get her to the vets but she becomes glued to the inside of the carrier when we get to the vets and needs peeling out!!

She loves car journeys though which is a blessing I suppose
