The litter tray

What's the longest time that you've not seen your cat ?

You can set your watch by our puss. She's always at the back door in the morning. She always asked to go out at 11pm.

I haven't seen her at all today and am getting worried.

I've been out and shaken her treat bag - she always comes when she hears this.

Sad

Similar happened to me last week, he managed to get himself shut in my neighbour's cellar.

Probably worth knocking on a few doors to ask if they wouldn't mind checking anywhere she may have got herself shut into?

I've had a lot of cats and they always do this at some time or another, seemingly for absolutely no reason. Your cat will be back soon. Check all sheds and ask neighbours to do the same.

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 17:57

Thanks, I've had a walk up and down the street, I'll give it half an hour and then knock on some doors.

Phew she's just strolled across the garden looking down her nose at me!

Poor you, they have no concern for our feelings do they?

Rikalaily · 08/06/2014 20:23

One of mine went missing for 16 days once, it was this time of year when everyone has their sheds open so assumed that she may have been locked in a shed for the first week, then started losing hope after that... 16 days later and there she appeared through the livingroom window, very skinny and bedraggled but fine other than that. The vet said she was probably locked in someones house before they went on holiday for a fortnight, she must have had access to water.

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 21:41

Lol totally selfish, I'm sure she did it just to test my nerves.

Your poor puss Rik glad she came home eventually.

Glad she's back. Hope she's spayed and she hasn't been out partying!

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 23:13

She's spayed and chipped !

Just in case you had a handsome bit of stuff move in down the road! Grin

Doinmummy · 08/06/2014 23:49

Grin

The weekend before I had her spayed she was parading in front of the patio doors , flashing her bits to a garden full of howling tom cats.

I couldn't get her to the vets quick enough !

When it's warm I sometimes don't see mine for a couple of days. She lets herself in to the neighbours houses and generally behaves like a complete tart.

The only way I know she is still alive is her food bowl empties, or if she decides to wake me up in the night.

One of ours went missing a few years ago. He turned up 13 days latr stinking of beer - we think he'd been in the local pub cellar.

Shouldwego · 11/06/2014 12:08

About ten weeks. One of our cats went missing in protest after we went on holiday then randomly turned up ten weeks later. We had done all the usual methods of trying to find her, advertising etc and assumed she'd died somewhere.

Then randomly she was in the front garden at 11pm one night, we kept her in for a few days but she has been a homebody as normal ever since.

CatsCantTwerk · 11/06/2014 12:12

I had a cat go missing for 4 months once, she just re appeared one day, She jumped up on my knee, started pushing and out popped a kitten, followed by 5 more. She came back to give birth then 2 days later she pissed off again leaving me to rear her kittens Hmm

I never seen her again.

BarbaraPalmer · 11/06/2014 12:22

glad she's home Smile

with our cat, after about 16 hours i panic and comb the neighbour rattling the treat tin. she always saunters up, looking embarrassed.

her predecessor once went missing for 5 days, and then came back looking scrawny and with a big laceration to his leg, poor chap. we assume he'd got stuck somewhere.

Shouldwego · 11/06/2014 13:01

catscan'ttwerk - wow! At least she knew you were a safe place.

Contraryish · 11/06/2014 13:13

We didn't see ours for about 10 months. He turned up the other day and promptly disappeared again!

WitchWay · 12/06/2014 18:06

My aunt had a cat that went missing for two years - it turned up thin & bedraggled with sore feet - she thought it might have been relocated accidentally in the back of someone's van, & then took a long time to find its way home!
