We moved house a month ago and now my cats are infested with fleas.

The vet thought they were probably hiding out in the house in the pupae stage and then sprang to life when my cats arrived. Today I have treated them with Advocate and started the onerous task of spraying every room in a house which which is still full of unpacked boxes and trying to keep 3yo DD out of the way.

Anyway, my question is, do I need to brush or comb the cats? And if so, how long after the treatment?

You need to treat the house too. Either get pest control out, or flea bomb. ( Experience of flea-ridden rental house..)

.... And Hoover LOTS, especially around skirting boards - put contents of Hoover straight in outside bin.

I'd treat the cat and the house. I've not had a serious infestation though.

Indorex is excellent. Asda pharmacy sell it cheaper than the vets.

Always hover before spraying the action of hovering wakes the larvae and makes the spraying twice as effective.

I have treated the cats and I am doing the house but I can't do it all in one go, will take me a couple of days.

It was just the brushing or combing I need to know about, is it needed?

I've never bothered combing fleas out.

Fair enough, I'll leave them to their own grooming then.
