one of the feral farm cats is injured - what do I do?

As far as I know it just survives on the farm - the farmer most definitely doesn't look after them (there are about 5). In fact, I'm quite certain his reaction to hearing about this limping one would be to shoot it.

This poor cat is limping horribly but I can't get near enough to see what exactly's happened.
Can anyone tell me who I should call? If I call RSPCA will they even come out? (Rural Northumberland/Durham.) I can't afford his medical bills. I WOULD keep him if that were an option. Can anyone advise? He's in the field opposite my house yowling but I can't get close to him. It's awful!

Call 101 and ask their advice.

I think cats protection are the best bet, they have experience of trapping ferals.

Eventually he might get so sick you can grab him but go for the scruff of the neck because he will still try and fight you off.

Yes definitely Cats Protection are the best bet. They will need a manual trap, rather than an automatic one, as there are a number of cats there. Unfortunately CP don't always have them. If they don't then certainly try the RSPCA.

If you can lure this particular cat to come to your house for food regularly then it's possible an automatic trap could be used. It's a difficult one and you need expect help.

Right. This weekend I will do my damnedest to lure poor kitty into the house, I really dont think he will come, I dont see him often enough. It's SHIT - he used to sunbathe on the barn roof and now cant get up there. He's probs not eating well. I feel shit for not having done something sooner. I will ring CPL first thing tomorrow.
Can I make it clear to them that even though I can't pay for medical bills (guilt, guilt) I would be happy to keep him and look after him? Or would that not be relevant? Guessing not.

Could you put food out? He won't be able to hunt as well if he's injured.
