Just went to fetch my cat from the side of the road

Just had to go fetch one of our cats from the side of the main road. She'd been knocked down and killed. Her eye was bulging out of the socket where she's been hit, but thankfully she was still in one piece. Don't think I could have coped bringing her home otherwise.

I put her in a wicker basket with a big throw in it to cover her over - she was so stiffSad, and brought her back home.

Don't really know what to do with her now. Husband is away working on business, and it's just me and the baby here. I don't drive. Would a pet crematorium collect her for us?

That's horrible OP, so sorry.

I'm afraid I don't know about the pet crematorium idea, but is it possible you take her via a lift or taxi to your vets and they can arrange the cremation?

cozietoesie · 09/04/2014 10:27

So sorry, Marvin. Sad

Give your vets a phone and see what they can do for you. A pet crematorium would certainly collect her for you but it may be expensive - depends on where you are and their rates. Your vet may be able to do the same thing (and arrange for her cremation) depending on where they are and the services they offer.

Are you coping OK ?

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/04/2014 10:27

Oh poor you, what a sad start to the day.

I expect a pet crem might have a taxi service. I'm so sorry it's the event you dread when you have out door cats.

Christmascandles · 09/04/2014 10:31

Oh bless her, and you. So sorry.
Yes a pet cremation service would collect her, if there is one near you. Ring your vet, they will know.

Thanks

Just called our vets and they do a cremation service. Just got to get her there now. Hopefully some friends will be able to help out.

Need to keep it together as it's just me and the baby here, but thinking about her little body in that basket is killing me.

Sad hope you got sorted Marvin.

EvansOvalPiesYumYum · 09/04/2014 16:46

Oh, that is so sad for you Marvin. If the Vet is not able to help right now, do you have a friend or neighbour who could look after her until Vet can?
