Is my kitten ready to be neutered, nearly 5 months and is running around wild!

Noticed that my kitten has changed somewhat lately very crazy and running around having his mad half hour.

I did read that at around 4 months they get "sexually frustrated" and it may be the time to get them neutered. I did ring the vet a few weeks ago and he said around 5-6 months then you read on line you can do them around 4 months - so Im confused

Yes he's old enough. I thought you had to wait until 6 months but when I took my kitten in they said "6 months? No you should have had him done when he was 4 months."

well have booked him in and when I said he;s around 4-4.5 months they queried it and said that was young and you have to see if the testicals have dropped down - I re-counted and he will be 21 weeks so that's 5 months and you can clearly see two little testicals so then they were ok

Yes with females we recommend neutering at 5 months, but we can do it a bit sooner if necessary. And with males - yes also 5 months as a general rule, but with them it really all depends on the age at which they develop something that can be lopped off :)

My cat had dropped at 17w & was trying to shag his sister.

It can take a fortnight for the testosterone to go out of his system. Some of it will just be normal kitten energy.
