So worried about my poorly girl

My lovely 10 year old (ish) girl isn't very well and I'm so worried about her.

Wednesday night she was really sick and kept vomiting even though she had nothing left to bring up. Vets on Thursday as she was still vomiting and they gave antibiotics and tablets to give at home. Back again on Friday as she was still vomiting so they gave her an anti vomit drug which worked.but she was still really sad.

Took her back again yesterday when they repeated anti vomit jab and extended her course of antibiotics.

Thing is although she hasn't been vomiting she also hasn't eaten anything since last night and even that was just a couple of mouthfuls. We're back at the vets again tomorrow and I think they will want to keep her in for blood tests unless she suddenly perks up over night.

My usually happy and people loving girl is currently hiding under the bed where she's been for most of the last few days.

I don't even know why I'm posting really, just she's my other baby and its all been so sudden and it seems like the vets as lovely as they are don't really know what's wrong.

Some seasoned litter-trayers will be along to offer some invaluable advice.

But we are all here to lean on.

Is she drinking? Using litter tray?

Thanks crazyn handhold much appreciated. Yes she's drinking and she's popped outside briefly today before hiding away again so I assume she's at least urinated.

Well that's encouraging at least. Do you think she could have eaten something toxic outside? But I suppose the vet already considered that.

I did wonder that but I can't think of anything and ours is a very catty road so I wouldn't expect anything horrible to be around plus she doesn't go far really.

I think more investigations are definitely needed at the vet. A few days being sick is more than enough. Keep us posted Smile

Thanks crazyn will do. She usually has one wet pouch of food in the evening and a bowl of dry down all the time. Same food she's been on for years. We've offered fish and chicken and her favourite treats the last few days too and it's all been turned down

Check the ingredients for cereals, eliminate food with cereal from her diet.

Mine wasn't intolerant to cereals until he was nearly one.

She's staying in overnight for blood tests and fluids as she's dehydrated a bit now too. We should get the results either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Thanks. Leaving her behind was horrible but I know logically its the best place for her. Glad we've got pet insurance though!

I hope she perks up and you quickly find out what's wrong

Sounds like the vet is definitely the best place for her at the moment after you'd been back and forth a few times with no improvement.
I've always found it really worrying & difficult to have a poorly cat at home, it's hard to leave them with the vet but at least an eye can be kept on them overnight there.

Well her blood tests have come back clear and the IV fluids have perked her up a bit and she's eaten something so the vet says she can come home and see how she does. They still don't know what it was but fx she's over it. If she goes back down hill we just have to take her back in. Thanks everyone Thanks

Well that's good news about the blood tests so fingers crossed that she improves. Is she to come home this afternoon?

Yes Smile we can get her when we finish work. They think it could be that she had the initial vomiting illness that the antibiotics etc sorted out but that she then had a bad reaction to the antibiotics which confused everyone. Hopefully that was it and nothing else will crop up.

So pleased the tests were positive. Poor girl seems to have had a nasty experience which has cleared up.
