New kittens been home a couple of hours, but not used litter tray yet, how can i help?

He's been in and out if the tray so knows where it is, has eaten abit and drank but no wees or poos. I've got the same cat litter, the wood litter so I'm thinking he will go soon

Hopefully yes - and if he's been in and out of the tray, he's thinking about it. A delay of a few hours isn't unusual given that he's in a strange place so just keep a watchful eye on him and if you see him squatting or getting that dreamy look in his eye, move him on to the tray directly. If still no luck after a while, you could actually put him on the tray and very gently support him there.

(If he's been back and forward, the odds are he wants a poo first - which is a bit more difficult for them. They don't usually do the two together.)

PS - First Use Of Tray is quite nerve wracking to wait for. I know how you feel!

Where are your litter trays? If they are in a 'stand out' place, that can be very off putting. Likewise if they are in a dark scary isolated place, that can too be off putting.

By the way, cats can hold for a very long time. You may find they let go anywhere. My current female peed behind the sofa twice and pooped there on her first night. We moved the litter tray to behind the sofa after that and then slowly relocated it. She's never had an accident since.

My male cat pooped in his carrier on the way home, then pooped on his bed once he got home, and peed on the floor by his bed. He then slept in his litter tray the first night.

Sadly for him the adage: 'with age, comes wisdom' does not apply
