my son went to his friends tonight and the lad says this kitten has been hanging round their street for a few days and scavenging in the bins, so what does my son do brings him to mom grrr, hes about 7-8 months old ginger marbled rather than striped, very pretty and hissing at everyone at the moment no not neutered but i think hes only got one pom pom as can feel one but not the other, and has a healing scar on his neck where it looks like another cat has bitten him have added him to the found list at rspca local page and will take him to the vets tomorrow to see if hes chipped, im still trying to find home or homes for the foster girls didnt really need another feline but will do my best for him

I'm sure you will, issey - as you always do. Has he eaten yet?

cozietoesie · 02/01/2014 20:21

Although thinking about it - you're in the street and are picked up by a strange boy who takes you to a strange house where a strange woman starts feeling your appendage(s). Not sure that I wouldn't be a bit hissy as welll!

issey6cats · 02/01/2014 20:37

lol cozie i have said that to him poor lad bet your wondering how you got here, he has eaten and has stopped hissing i have him in the kitchen at the moment, hes definitely domesticated very friendly and purry towards me so hes either wondered away from home or been dumped i am praying hes just lost and i find his owner had to find out if hes neutered as the foster girls one of them is howling for england and rolling round god help me i think shes in heat never had one yet as all mine neutered early before this happens so if she is in heat and hes not neutered this is going to be fun keeping them seperated, have called him george for now but looking at him i bet hes really a tigger or garfield lol, my son is going to put him on facebook ask if anyone has lost him aswell

You have a lovely son.

It sounds like she is in heat, once you've seen it once you don't forget it.

TheBunsOfPanettone · 02/01/2014 21:46

You're a brave woman to be feeling for a strange boy's bobbles Grin. Good on you and your son taking him in and I do hope a responsible home can be found for him asap.

issey6cats · 02/01/2014 22:40

buns i work for a cat rescue so feeling pom poms is certainly not one of the strangest things i have to do do in my time lol hes settled himself in the corner of the kitchen on a towel and will keep the door closed between front room and kitchen, for tonight and then after been to the vets will see about getting the girls neutered as even though they are on the waiting list for rescue place it will be another couple of months at least unless i can home them first

I work a day a week at a rescue too, feeding, cleaning suites, spending time with the kitties and playing with them but I've not yet had to feel for pom-poms, I think that's the manager's job Grin. There's a little chap there at the moment, about 3 or 4 months old, who has the most hilarious pair - you wouldn't have to feel them, they stick out a mile!

Hoping you can get the girls neutered asap then, for the sake of a bit of peace and quiet in your house!

issey6cats · 03/01/2014 13:39

well i took him to the vets this afternoon, no microchip the vet says hes about 6 months old as he still has some of his baby teeth, have registered him on their lost and found site, will put him on cat chat as well, and my son has taken a pic of him will print it into a couple of found cat posters and hes going to put them up in the area cant think of anything else i can do, if no responce in a couple of weeks will look at rehoming him, hes georgous but i dont want and cant afford any more cats or kittens except official yorkshire cat rescue ones from now on lol

Well done in looking after him.

just to confirm your female sounds like mine when she is in heat. My female stops eating and acts like a tart until the hormones disappear so be careful!

cozietoesie · 03/01/2014 16:11

Well done, issey. Is there a picture for us yet?

mistlethrush · 03/01/2014 16:16

Issey if you're in the county I think you're in from your last comment, my MiL has just moved back up from London and is going to be looking for a cat in the near future... Nice quiet home with occasional visits from 8yo grandson, no other pets, nice walled garden with easy access from the house...

issey6cats · 03/01/2014 18:01

mistlethrush yes i live in halifax in yorkshire, the kittens i have at the moment are the two 5 month old girl sisters one is black and white the ohter one is all black both very sweet girls, i have applied for cpl vouchers for neutering these two so if they come through by next week will be another couple of weeks at mine, and ginger boy i am going to keep him for two weeks to see if i can find his owner thats the minimum legal requirement at a rescue so am going with that, your MILs sounds ideal and a lovely home for any cat or kitten
