Where can I buy a decent scratching post/perch that isn't made of cardboard?

My cat loves to perch on her 2 story high scratching post and gaze out of the window. After only about 4 months though the perch part has snapped off- which is not surprising really it was only made of giant toilet roll tubes Hmm

She loves perching and scratching and as I would rather she didn't perch on the toaster and scratch the quality ikea furnishings, I will have to get her a new one.

argos?

CantaSlaus · 22/12/2013 22:09

we got one similar to this

It's big enough for them to sit on the top and more sturdy than a lot of others.

I ended up getting my giant cat tree off ebay at the recommendation of a fosterer I know because the PaH were far too short and small for my monster cats.

I got this one (it is huge, but there are loads of different kinds/sizes on ebay):

I did have to cut the stringy dangles off of mine, to avoid accidents. The rope bit is fine.

It's lasted a good couple of years.

The vast majority of cat trees are made of cardboard tubing unfortunately. The alternative is something like a kooga tree, similar trees structures available on zooplus. Mine have a 'pot stand' which is huge and is the roots of a java tree.
