The litter tray

Oh look, there's that lady who opens the door for me

... so it must be time for me to go in / go out (delete as appropriate).

Honestly, I have been off work for the last few days, and my cats are revelling in having their own personal door person.

That said, I'm still don't want to get a cat flap, so I suppose I only have myself to blame.

We have just had a cat flap fitted (at considerable expense I might add) and our 2 little Princes still want the door opened. They will not soil their paws pushing open that flap!! If I refuse to open the door they sit and take it in turns to peer pitifully at me through the clear flap.

cozietoesie · 13/12/2013 14:47

Why lift even a paw if you don't have to?

Grin

issey6cats · 13/12/2013 15:16

oh look moms opened the door i think i will stand here for ten minutes just looking through the open door, i wont go out i will wait till she sits down again and then make a huge fuss to go out and maybe when she opens the door this time i might actually saunter through the door, dosent matter that its cold here, and mom having the door open lets all the heat out cos she will just put the heating up higher so its nice and warm for me to come back in 2 minutes after i went out, yep

SummerRain · 13/12/2013 15:36

My grey cat spends all her waking hours going in and out of doors. She goes out the backdoor while I'm smoking, then runs in the front when somebody uses that door, then howls to get out the back door, then turns up on the front window wailing to come in 2 minutes later, then asks one of the kids to let her out the back... and on and on and on.

Sometimes I leave her sitting on the front window howling in at me while I work just to teach her a lesson but she never gets the hint Hmm

BerylStreep · 13/12/2013 16:19

Glad to hear I am not alone.

Of course, with all the going in and out, it's important to come inside to use the litter tray though isn't it?

Oh this is hilarious! I want a cat!

sonlypuppyfat · 13/12/2013 16:26

It's all my cat does he goes out the side and works his way round to the back when it all starts again.

SummerRain · 13/12/2013 16:31

Oh yes, or better yet go outside right after using the tray to escape the smell that's now pervading throughout the house Hmm

GemmaTeller · 13/12/2013 16:41

Oh yes, boy cat goes out, comes in, get treats, goes out, comes in, gets treats, goes out, comes in, gets treats.......

DH was overheard saying 'whats the matter, got no mates to play with?' then told the dog to go and play out with the cat [hmmm]

What about when its raining and they go to the front door, won't go out cos its raining, run to the back door and can't understand why its raining out there as well.

cozietoesie · 13/12/2013 16:47

And it's the way they blame the humans for the weather. Indignant meows that you haven't given them sunshine and blue skies this morning!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/12/2013 19:19

"And there's that man who also lives here, I'm not quite sure why so I ignore him".

CMOTDibbler · 13/12/2013 19:33

We have a cat flap, which is well used by all cats. But yet two out of three like to wail at the front door at regular intervals, and one likes to appear at the patio door to be let in. He's taught the chickens to stand there hopefully too

cozietoesie · 13/12/2013 20:00

Not that any of us are under the paw. Oh no!

Grin

GemmaTeller · 14/12/2013 11:46

Fluffycloud we have that to, boy cat 'tolerates' DH but has totally trained him to open the front door on a regular (hourly) bases.

bootsycollins · 15/12/2013 22:19

Our boy likes to go out for a morning patrol ( 1 maximum) come home, eat 2 breakfasts then go back to bed for the day Grin

bootsycollins · 15/12/2013 22:19

*1 hour maximum

DramaAlpaca · 15/12/2013 22:25

We have a cat flap at each end of the house. Will they use them? Only if there's no well-trained human around to open the window/door for them.

Gemma ours are the same when it's raining - check out all possible exits and can't understand why it's raining outside all of them.

sashh · 16/12/2013 07:46

issey6cats

You forgot the 'I'll stand with my bum inside amd my nose outside for a minute or two, actually I think I'll sit down in the doorway and just look out.

cozietoesie · 16/12/2013 08:57

Yes - that would be the 'It's nice to sit and take the air with my bum being kept all warm by the heat that Mom's paying for'. Blighters.

Poledra · 16/12/2013 09:06

DH dropped a jar in the kitchen yesterday, so locked the catflap to keep the cats outside while he cleaned up the broken glass. They headbutted the catflap like drunk Glaswegians for 30 minutes then gave DH the serious evils when he let them back in again. He did try to reason with them about the fact he was protecting their paws but they wren't listening...

OhYouMerryLittleKitten · 16/12/2013 09:21

we have one very fat bad cat who is obsessed with everyones food but hers, one very skinny poorly cat who is on a special diet which fat bad cat thinks is amazing and one old cat who sleeps through every meal time and thus can never work out when its time to eat. I'm forever putting food bowls down, chasing fat bad cat off, picking bowls up, prodding old cat awake, chasing fat bad cat off.

its got to the point where old cat never eats, skinny cat asks for food constantly only to be wrestled to the ground by fat bad cat and fat bad cat is in a standoff refusing to eat her own food.

they are doing my head in.
