Im having to deflea my cats every 4 weeks and i swear this cant be right as they dont usually need doing this often .

is their anything that lasts longer than 4 weeks ?

I have been using Frontline , so im going to change that and looking online their are quite a few so im tranna decide between 2 .

Capstar & Advantage , Which will be more effective ?

Why do you mean you have to? Is it the house that needs treating? (Carpets re infecting the cats?)

There are some issues with frontline. Change to advantage or stronghold. Or the new Seresto collars are very good. Google them. If your cats keep collars on then they are worth the money IMO.

You need to worm them too if you are seeing fleas btw

Collar injuries worry me so I wouldn't want one on my cat. (Can cat be pfb?) Are you treating the cats at the same time?

Chuck the cats out and flea bomb the house. If you don't want to use flea collars on the cats, buy some and put them (or bits of them) in the cat beds under a blanket or towel. A chopped off bit in the Hoover will also help. They shouldn't be getting a serious re-infestation in such a short space of time, so you need to make sure it isn't in the house that they're picking them up.

Im not going to use a Flea Collar as one of my Cats had a bad reaction to one so not taking any chances .

Flea collars are not good for people or cats - not sure what they put in them but it can make your cats and people very ill. Use with caution.

Is advocate/advantage the same thing?

I thought Advantage/Advocate were the same as well

I think advantage is the dog version.

Why about stronghold injections?

Your best bet is to ring your vet and talk to them about what you should do, we get advocate from the vets every 4 weeks now and have been completely flea free!!

I dont have the money for the injection just yet as i have six cats until the new year

The new seresto collars are totally different from the permethrin old collars. They are quick release so no collar injuries. Last 7 months. They are very different so don't dismiss everyone. (They don't pay me btw but I am a feline specialist!)

We used to have a dreadful problem with fleas - tried all sorts of treatments but could never get rid of them.

Then we read about Indorex on MN a couple of years ago and, although it was quite expensive, gave it a try. Instead of treating the cats, it involves spraying the house. We've got quite a big house and the cats go everywhere, so we thought it didn't stand much chance of working - but it did. It was brilliant and one of the best £10 I've ever spent.

The fact that you've got several cats OP actually probably means it won't even be much more expensive than treating 6 cats.

I use Indorex in the house so I have ordered some more .

Also can't use quick release collars as they know how to get them off

Advocate is prescription only from the vet and then only a one off so you would need to get a repeat script which would also cost (ours is £8.50 per repeat) then I order from VetUK.

I get the Advocate flea and wormer combined from the vets. Never a flea in sight.

I also think the seresto collar is great and they don't pay me either. My own cats have been wearing them for nearly two years now - right since they were launched, I have been very impressed with them and strongly recommend them to my clients.

I really like the sound of the seresto collars but ny cats only manage to keep the quick release collars on for a day or two
