Is there anything I can do to encourage my cats to man up a bit?

I have three cats - one's a psycho bruiser, one's a complete softy, and one's just completely neurotic. All get along reasonably well most of the time; none of them are the brightest sparks.

Meanwhile we have Evil Bastard Neighbouring cat, who tbh looks more like an Ocelot than a cat, and who breaks in through our cat flap on a regular basis. He's managed to break the door of the catflap now. My cats hiss and spit and run around looking frazzled, but don't seem to actually do anything to claim their territory.

Do I have to accept that my cats are wusses - or is having 3 cats the reason why they don't seem to have managed to claim their territorial patch? Does having 3 make it harder for them? Is a magnetic collar/catflap the only solution? - because they really really do not like collars. Thanks.

A microchip cat flap, Hassled. That will only allow in cats with 'authorized' microchips and will repel intruders. Sureflap is the one most posters use - costs just under £70 online which isn't cheap but is worth it for the security. Their natures are what they are, I'm afraid.

Fantastic :). I didn't know such a thing existed, and the cats are all microchipped. Will google - many thanks.

I have had various intruders try to get past the Sureflap, but no matter how much force they apply they are still on the outside. A big recommendation from here.

In the meantime, if not broken, put cat flap on in only. Trap the bastard and frighten it. Spoons on a saucepan whilst squirting a watergun is effective psychological warfare to frighten it without killing it!
